We were very happy with our stay at the BWP Dartmouth. We stayed at 8 hotels over 11 days during our vacation, and this was our favourite (we stayed three nights). We were told we were in the ‘new’ wing on the ground floor; not sure if that meant newly built or newly renovated, but either way it was nice. The room we had was also close to the side exit door which was convenient for loading in our things and for my travel partner to go outside to smoke. The ceilings in the room were 10 or 11’ tall which added to the spaciousness of it. The desk space was large, and there was an armchair and small table beside the window. The microwave, fridge and coffeemaker, and the rest of the room were clean and everything worked as expected. We were disappointed on our second evening to find that the hotel restaurant was suddenly closed for maintenance, but it was open again the next day. The hotel is in some kind of business park so there isn’t a lot within walking distance, but if you have a car you can get to food and shopping, including an Ikea, quite quickly. We used this as a home-base while we explored Halifax and beyond, and found that the pricing was better here over the bridge than staying in Halifax. A waiver must be signed to use the pool, and while I did sign it, I never got around to using it. There was a mechanical room on our floor that always seemed to be open, with no staff in sight. I’ll note two observations: Being new, I was surprised at the grout discolouration in parts of the tiled shower (no tub combo in this room); There was a small pile of empty nut shells in front of our door when we checked in, and three days later, it was still there when we checked out. Not sure how often the halls are being vacuumed, but when I worked at a Best Western years ago the halls were done daily. I don’t think that’s the case here. Neither of these items caused us any discomfort and would not keep us from staying here again. I would recommend.

This Best Western is conveniently located in Dartmouth within a short drive to downtown Halifax. We had a really pleasant stay from the comfortable hotel room to the amenities. The hotel is relatively new and equipped with a fun water slide that operates on evenings. Guest service was pleasant to talk to. In the morning complementary breakfast is provided. Only area for small improvement is the lighting, as the restaurant dining is dark and so was our room even with all lights! The location is next to an office building but still has plenty of its own parking.

The water park inside is such a cool addition. Breakfast was awesome. The restaurant that’s attached was good. The waitress was so incredible, I couldn’t remember her name but she was the one who photocopies her grandkids colouring books so that the kids who come to eat have something to do!! Water park/pool room is so so extremely loud. It gave me a headache within 5 minutes, so if you’re sensitive to sounds keep this in mind. The rooms stunk really badly and I’m not really sure what it was that made the smell.

Room was a good size and relatively clean (found a hair in the tub and on the wall which can happen). I enjoyed having a seating area at the entrance of the room and separate sleeping area in the back (lessens the noise traffic from the hall). Bed was very comfortable and provided a good night's sleep. The A/C worked really well and kept the room nice and cool, it was a bit noisy though. Breakfast was a typical hotel offered breakfast which was ok. I was rather disappointed that the days I did have the breakfast, the choices weren't switched up. It was the same things everyday, where I would have preferred the ham and sausage be alternated with bacon as a choice. Also, I looked forward to having yogurt, but there wasn't any despite signs saying it was an option. The same with the options available for fruit. As for the staff working the breakfast, they were very nice and polite. Even offering advice on tourist attractions within the area. One staff though, when moving bread to fill the tray, used her hands instead of using tongs or gloves. When I originally went to book my stay, I had called the hotel with my dates, but was told there was no availability for the dates I wanted. However, when I went to the BW site, the dates I wanted were available and I was able to book my stay. I'm not sure why when I called, the dates weren't available, but they were through the website? The only other suggestion, is to offer more washers and dryers as having only one of each, is really not realistic for the size of the hotel and the amount of guests. Overall, we were pleased with our stay and experience. We recommend this hotel and...

THIS IS EXTREMELY KID INHABITED. So if you arent up for a ton of yelling, running, budding, splashing and fooling around...don't go. We had a wonderful time. Our 23 month old loved seeing all the kids!! Just a night away to swim in the pool, have pizza, watch a movie and enjoy the complimentary breakfast.

The pool could have been warmer. We really did have bluish hands and feet and wished we could have stayed in longer; it was a BIG reason to spend a night staycation. It was me, my mom, my sister and baby niece. We like pools and short hangouts together. It was very clean and the water slide was great!!

Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The COMPIMENTARY breakfast FAR exceeded our expectations!! The cold was cold, the hot was hot and FRESH! The latte I got out of that huge machine was sooo good. Almost startled me!! Good size eating space and nice and bright!! THE STAFF WERE SO EFFICIENT AND PLEASANT...NOTHING WAS EVER COMPLETELY OUT! Everything was delicious. The waffles were a dessert!! They are undergoing some renovation, but it didn't inhibit anything. There was an elevator out. This was a big nuisanse. We were on the 4th floor with a baby. There tended to be a line up and a bit of a wait. We took it in stride but they may have really needed 3. I am sure it will be fixed before you go!

It has no walkability so it meant lots of parking!! And given it was -8...we weren't going anywhere! It is in between Burside and Dartmouth Crossing. Very quiet surroundings. We would consider it...
