Trendz Gastro Pub — Restaurant in Dartmouth

Let me start by saying the sticky toffee pudding was incredible! Moist and delicious! Good thing because the rest of the meal was horrendous and the service wasn’t much better. I’m not sure what’s happened to this restaurant in the past few years. It used to be considered a high end restaurant and the food matched that. A couple from New Brunswick used to own it, but maybe it’s changed owners. If so, the new owners need to do better. The restaurant was very busy (6:00 on a Friday night). I had the steak sandwich with fries. Firstly, the server (didn’t get her name because she didn’t tell us/short, dark cool hair cut) was not friendly at all. It was like we were bothering her to wait on us. She seemed annoyed that place was so busy. When she took my order she didn’t ask what I wanted for a side, but proceeded to take orders from everyone else. I asked her what sides they had she was done the other orders. What was she planning on bringing me if she didn’t know my preference??? When I received my order, the au jus went to my friend and her gravy was on my plate . (They are in the same type of container). We just split the side of gravy. We had to ask other servers to top up our water because our server didn’t come back to see how the meal was, to top up our water, etc. My steak sandwich was as the worst piece of meat I’ve ever tasted. I had to open up the sandwich to cut out the fat and grissol in the meat. I asked for it to be cooked well done and on my receipt it indicated medium rare. Guess that explains the pink look to it! At this point I should have sent the whole meal back, but I was very hungry and stuck with it. When the server came to get our plates, she failed to ask how the meal was. Maybe she knew I would have told her!!! I also am in the customer service business and take pride in my work. This server should probably get into a new line of work. I know people have lots of things going on in their lives, but I was always told to leave your troubles at the door and if want to pick them up on the way home, that’s your choice. I ALWAYS give servers good tips, but the food and the service was so bad, that this time I didn’t! There are lots of places to eat in Halifax and I doubt I will ever step inside this...

My husband and I were staying at the hotel and decided to try Trendz because of the menu we had seen online. When we looked at the menus after our server left our table, we realized that the menu was not the same as we had seen online, and that the meals we considered trying, were no longer on the menu. When the server arrived at the table to take our order, I mentioned that the menu she gave us didn't offer the same things that we had seen online. She stated that she had been working there for about a year now, and that the menu we were given, is the same menu that's been there since she started. My husband inquired about a drink that was available on the other menu and was told that they no longer make it. I was also disappointed because a drink I really wanted to try, wasn't on the menu anymore either. Had we seen the updated version of the menu, most likely we would have eaten elsewhere. Due to it being later in the evening and we were tired from the day, it was too late to go somewhere else. Our server was good, the prices fair and the food was ok. I was really disappointed in the menu though as it was the original menu that had brought us there in the first place. We weren't the only ones who were left disappointed, as the same thing happened to another customer. He stated it was the original menu that brought him there as well. I feel this is a dishonest way of bringing customers to your restaurant. You know it's very unlikely they will leave once they've been seated and will just accept the choices available. I could understand if the changes had just been made, or a couple of months, but a year? That's...

Bottom line up front: Abysmal service and bland food. But the place looked nice. (Open for more...)

We went for "Dine Halifax" special menu, the setting is fantastic, high end feeling, and the menu is seductive - took me away from the special menu I came for because it all looked so good. My wife had trouble deciding what to order and I was very excited for my dish! But that's where the magic ended for me.

1. The waiter failed to provide a drink menu until we specifically asked for it while he took our order (... and it's a wine bar... cmon)
2. Both my wifes and my food, while appealing on the menu, were bland and underwhelming.
3. The waiter never took our drink order, instead just returned to drop off the food before quickly leaving the table.
4. The waiter never came back to check on the food or top up our water, and was out of sight for the duration. I ended up having to share my water with my wife.
5. Waitor was very chatty when the tip option was in my hand, but otherwise seemed totally disinterested.

Won't be going back....
