Horrendous Experience at Castel Hotel Granby - Book a Cage, Not a Hotel!
I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Castel Hotel in Granby, and I must say, it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we entered the room, we were overwhelmed by a repulsive stench that seemed to permeate every inch of the place. The carpets and furniture were so old and worn-out, it felt like we stepped back in time.
To make matters worse, the hotel's website presented a completely different picture compared to the dismal reality we encountered. The prices they charged for a two-night stay were exorbitantly high, considering the abysmal quality of the accommodations. We paid a shocking $440, including taxes, for a room supposedly fit for two adults and one child.
When we approached the front desk for assistance, we were met with sheer incompetence. Despite our grievances, they were unable to offer any solutions or address our concerns adequately. It was clear that their staff lacked the necessary training and knowledge to handle customer issues promptly.
To add insult to injury, we had booked an additional room for our friends who came with us, only to find that their experience mirrored ours. The same unpleasant smell, worn-out furnishings, and false claims made by the hotel were consistent across both rooms. Our attempts to discuss these concerns with the front desk staff turned into a two-hour ordeal, achieving nothing more besides a meager apology and a paltry compensation of a free breakfast.
Speaking of breakfast, it was an utter disappointment. Far from being a buffet as one would expect, they enforced a limited selection and even decided the plate options for guests. The breakfast was lackluster, and the quality of the food as poor as it could get. It became another letdown during an already terrible stay.
Overall, I strongly advise against reserving a room at Castel Hotel in Granby. Save yourself the agony and disappointment of booking what can only be described as a cage masquerading as a hotel. The unbearable smell, dilapidated rooms, misleading website, sky-high prices, and unhelpful front desk staff make this establishment a place that should be avoided at all costs. Spare yourself the regret, choose a better hotel for a pleasant...
Read moreWe stayed in a 2 queen bed room garden side overlooking the pool on the 5th floor. This room had no balcony, which we preferred. There was no noise from adjoining rooms or guests in hallway. Air conditioning worked well although a tad on the loud side when coming on. Decor was fresh, modern, extremely clean. Bathroom was immaculate, with glass shower and completely spotless! There's a tiny, tiny Keurig coffee maker with 2 pods provided. If you want a bigger caffeine hit, free breakfast with more coffee is available on the premises. It was standard buffet fair but tasty to send you on your way! |Staff was pleasant and professional at all times! Our French language skills are poor but we had no trouble conversing with employees in English.|Free parking, 7 minutes drive to Granby Zoo/water park, lots of restaurants within walking distance, Walmart, Canadian Tire, across road.|2 fine looking restaurants in the hotel, although we didn't get the chance to try them but they were often full for dinner so I suspect they're decent.|Pool is massive and grounds are beautifully kept.||One note: mattresses could use an immediate upgrade. A bit soft in the middle from age and overuse. Sleep was just okay but won't deter us from returning.|Highly recommend for families or couples. Lots of packages available upon booking. We basically got a free adult admission on our zoo...
Read moreLocation is amazing! Five minutes from the Granby Zoo right beside a Walmart plus many other stores, surrounded by family friendly restaurants. Really couldn't have placed the hotel in a better spot for a family trip! The hotel breakfast is good but not buffet style which is hard when travelling with little ones who can be picky! The room is quite basic but has everything you would expect. We got the room with the pull out and it's quite tight but we still were able to get a playpen in with everything in it (travelled with an almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old). The pool at the hotel looked great but we didn't get a chance to use it spending our time at the zoo. They also have a little play structure which again is great for family trips ! The downside is kind of the room size but we did see a double bed room and it's definitely larger ! The only is considering it's such a family friendly hotel it's weird that they don't offer portable cribs for overnight guests. We would definitely do the two day zoo package again with this hotel....
