I recently stayed at the Tower Hotel in Halifax and found that while the property has a few redeeming qualities, it falls short of what one would expect from a 5‑star establishment. Overall, I would rate my stay 3 out of 5 stars.
There were several disappointments during my visit:
Kitchenette & Amenities: The kitchenette included a stove but lacked basic cookware such as pots and pans. Additionally, the cutlery drawer provided only a single fork, which made even a simple meal preparation inconvenient.
Room Layout & Design: The fridge/freezer door opens the wrong way, which is both impractical and frustrating. The bed is oddly placed—not centered in the room—and one side of the bed lacks a plug, limiting usability. The bathroom is quite small, and although there’s a whirlpool bath, it doesn’t include bubble bath for a more luxurious experience.
Hotel Layout & Navigation: The overall design of the hotel is more akin to a labyrinth than a welcoming space. Getting from the parking area to the hotel is a nuisance—guests must pass through two doors, navigate down some stairs, and then walk through a long hallway just to reach the elevator. This poorly planned layout only adds to the inconvenience of the stay.
Furnishings & Fixtures: The housecoats and towels were very scratchy, detracting from the comfort one expects in a premium hotel. The TV in the room is small and not even mounted on the wall, and the manual blinds feel outdated.
Service Shortcomings: There was no room service, porter, or valet available. Customer service was difficult to reach—the phone line was almost always busy—which added to the overall frustration.
Limited In-Room Refreshments: The room only provided two bottles of water and a small assortment of chocolates. Despite having drink vending machines in the hotel, there was no option to purchase food. I was particularly puzzled by the policy preventing guests from taking drinks from the lounge bar back to their room.
Small Touches: In a hotel that claims 5‑star status, it was surprising to see only a bar of soap provided instead of liquid hand soap, which is the expected standard.
While the Tower Hotel may be adequate for a short stay or a quick stopover, the overall experience doesn’t justify the 5‑star label. I hope that management takes these points into consideration to better align the service, amenities, and overall layout with the...

Read moreMe and my wife have stayed here 3 or 4 times and always have an amazing time staying in the prestige whirlpool suites, so I felt it was time to provide an HONEST review as I rarely write reviews. The owner Stephanie, manager Nimfa, and staff (Special shoutout to Princess and Ric) make staying here an extraordinary experience. I am a platinum elite choice member and stay in hotels frequently all over Canada. This hotel is always impeccably clean, you rarely see a fingerprint or a hair in any of the rooms. We even were surprised with a fruit tray and wine after mentioning it was my wife’s birthday at our most recent stay.
When you stay in hotels as often as me, you will sometimes run into issues. I did have a couple of minor issues with my stays here, and they go above and beyond to correct them. If you ever come across an issue, make sure to let the desk know and trust me, you will be happy!
I have never used the pool, conference centre, or gym so I cannot speak on those. But I’m sure they are amazing.
If you want to have an amazing dinner, visit Le Rouge downstairs. Whether you like to get dressed up or not, you will fit in for an incredible dining experience.
The BIGGEST final takeaway for this hotel is the 5 star breakfast on the top floor. The food is seriously the best I’ve ever had at any hotel by a long shot, and better than most breakfast style restaurants. Ric always takes great care of everybody in the breakfast area, and it’s not uncommon to have managers/ownership in the breakfast area talking to guests about your stay. They are always looking to improve.
If you’ve been questioning on staying here, do it! You will...
