I came here with my family for a few days on Spring Break. We always have a great time at Kimberley Alpine Resort! This year we have a new puppy, so we wanted a pet-friendly room and I remember coming to Trickle Creek 10 years ago with my old doggy
We booked a 2-bedroom suite with balcony. It was pretty roomy and faced the parking lot. The bedrooms were spacious and fit all of our bags, plus we brought a giant doggy travel kennel. There was room for the giant kennel. There’s a gas fireplace and a tv in every room (3 all together).
Because COVID- we brought all of our own food and cooked all meals in the kitchen. The kitchen is teeny tiny. It’s not bad, I’m just mentioning it so you can be prepared! You will want to bring almost everything- from paper towels and dish cloths, to bowls and measuring cups. There was an old crusty frying pan with a broken handle that was impossible to clean because there was no dish soap or sponge. Counter space is limited! Other COVID accommodations were reasonable and manageable (masks everywhere, only cohorts in elevator, etc).
The room was a little dingy. It is pet friendly after all, but there are little things that could have been improved that would make the stay a little more homey. For example- lighting! The room gets gloomy and dark. The light bulbs are those cold, blue lights that make you look like you’ve been sleeping in a Thai prison for a week. You know the ones? So easy to switch out the bulbs and create a welcoming environment. Maybe a box of tissues would have been nice.
Other aspects make the place feel really really dated- plugs would slip out of outlets and there were some old splatter marks on the wall. Our door also didn't lock so key cards were unnecessary.
There’s been a lot of development around the area so all the greenspaces are now gravel and dust, so it’s not as nice as it used to be. The skiing is always great, even with the warm weather- very few crowds or line ups. The vibe and atmosphere is friendly.
Now I know pet friendly rooms aren’t going to be glamourous… but carpet? Throughout? Yikes. That being said, it did not smell bad at all! It also didn’t feel so great under your feet so we wore our flip flops inside. Overall the room seemed clean- however, I did get bitten by a tick on our 3rd night. I have no idea how this happened, seeing as I was wearing knee-high boots and snowpants all weekend. I also did not walk in the woods (most of the grounds around the resort is developed). I was so freaked out that I (obviously) spent the night Googling, and apparently, ticks can live, hide, and survive in carpet, beds, couches, etc. This being a pet-friendly room, I am kind of suspecting that the tick hitchhiked on a furry friend, and bit me in bed (I am NOT accusing the resort of having a tick infestation! I just can’t see where else it would have come from). So just be aware. No one else in my family was bit, nor could I find any ticks on my dog.
Probably wouldn’t stay here again because I am a little freaked out about the...
Read moreI will start off by saying when we stayed here in November it was a nice visit and that is why we returned. However this time was quite the opposite experience. We arrived giving ourselves 2-3 hours before their restaurant and pool would be closing but when we arrived the line to check in was backed up. They were having issues with the key cards and so check in took a long time. 30+ minutes. When it was finally our turn we were told that the elevators were broken and had been since the previous morning. When I heard that I asked why they didn’t think to notify their customers of this potential issue given our adult daughter is disabled and we didn’t pack expecting to haul up multiple flights of stairs. I clearly wasn’t happy but I wasn’t rude or disrespectful. The lady working the front desk was not apologetic in the least and snapped at me “did I want to find another hotel instead” I was so shocked at how rude this staff was that I didn’t even know what to say. So we proceeded to now waste another hour of our time hauling about 5 trips worth of stuff up the stairs while our daughters waited excitedly to swim. At this point we were exhausted, sweaty and had wasted most of our evening on check in and hauling loads of heavy suitcases. So I rush to take my youngest daughter to the pool while my older daughters take our dog to pee. When they return and are walking towards the stairs again the same rude lady working the front desk snaps at them that dogs are not allowed at the pool. Why would she think we were taking our dog to the pool? Pugs can’t even swim!! My daughters and I got about 30 minutes in the pool before the same lady arrived at EXACTLY 9 pm to kick us out of the pool. It was just so unbelievable that after the completely awful unrelaxing evening we had had due to their issues they wouldn’t even give us an extra few minutes to swim. We have stayed at many places on our annual road trips but not sure we have ever dealt with someone as rude and lacking basically any empathy. A waste of $448. Could of done manual labour at home and had a...
