I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times for work. As stated by others in.previous reviews, the staff here is friendly and fantastic! The rooms are dated but everything has always been clean, comfortable and quiet. Farina, the italian restaurant located in the hotel has many rave reviews. Even some of the locals i met raved about it. As for me....out of the 3 meals i had there, one was good. The first was butternut squash ravioli. It wasn't as advertised. I got ravioli in cream sauce. Nothing else listed in the description was in it. Second was under cooked spaghetti in a horrible, watery tomato sauce. Third meal i ordered a side ceasar salad and cheese capelletti. I actially took a picture of the rotting lettuce that was conveniently burried under a few nice pieces. These cheese capelletti was the only well presented and good tasting meal i had. The rest made cafeteria food look high end. The saving grace of the experience of my 3 meals there was my server. Phenominal and super friendly. (Celine?). I can't say that I'll give the restaurant another chance but the hotel itself is worth the stay. Yes it's older and dated. But it has some charm and great staff.

There was an empty box of clamato in our room behind the table when we arrived which left us feeling less than confident in the cleanliness of our room. The bathtub-shower combo was run down and the shower head sprayed all over despite trying to adjust it, which is a shame juxtaposed with the standard quality best western soaps and plentiful towels. The room felt claustrophobic and it was noisy at night, we heard doors closing all night, particularly because there's no sound isolation in the hallway between the room door and the exterior doors. Couldn't use the breakfast vouchers to get breakfast to the room even when willing to pay extra for service, normally I don't order food to the room, but had the dog with me and couldn't leave him alone or bring him to restaurant (understandably) making the breakfast voucher useless. Vegan info: soaps are not vegan, no alternative milks available at restaurant, only breakfast food that is vegan is the oatmeal and fruit. 0 out of 5 on the vegan score card.

My wife and I stayed here on our way through town. The rooms were tidy (even if they lack pizzazz) and the front desk staff were courteous and professional. My only disappointments were a lack of electrical outlets available in the guest rooms (I have a moderate amount of stuff I need to plug in), a smoke detector that needed new batteries (thankfully it only began chirping after we work up) and the lack of a continental breakfast available on site.

We reserved our room and told them in advance we had 2 large dogs with us. No problem they said we'll get you in a pet room on the first floor. We show up at 4PM after 8hrs on the road they tell us our room isn't ready, no apology or anything and we were advised to just "hang out locally and should be ready in an hour" Keep in mind its 30degrees outside. I told them that's unacceptable and the employee at check in said they'll just put us in a room on the 2nd floor and I agreed.

At around 9PM we take my very quiet, well behaved dogs out for a pee. When we return to the room we get a call from the lady at the front desk I had checked in with.

She immediately became very accusatory and asked if I had dogs in the room, I said of course I had booked a pet room. She then exclaimed pets are not allowed in 2nd floor rooms (as if I should know that) and that I would be charged a cleaning fee for "sneaking" my dogs in there.

I explained I had booked a pet room so I presumed when they gave me another room it was a pet one. According to her "there was no note on the booking" saying I had said I had pets and again implied I had lied about bringing my dogs in.

I have never been spoken to by a hotel employee in this manner and (at 9PM no less) completely ruined my night.

When we checked out the employee working the desk was the one we booked the room with and she confirmed we did indeed say we had 2 large dogs with us.

I left a message with 2 separate employees to have the manager of the hotel call me but as of today (5 days later) I have...

We booked the meeting room at this hotel. A city-wide internet outage happened during our meeting. Totally understandable that the hotel staff can't do anything about the hotel-provided WiFi, so we decided to use our mobile hotspots on our cellphones to get some internet to the meeting room. But of course, this old rundown hotel had no service in the meeting room they set us up in. But as soon as I walked into the hallway, we had service. So obviously there's an issue with that specific meeting room and its location in the building. I spoke to two people behind the front desk, got offered no solution. Spoke to a manager, got offered no solution. All they kept saying was "it's not our fault" obviously not understanding the issue I was trying to bring to their attention. I had to go through 4 different people to get someone to agree to let us switch meeting rooms. The staff was not wanting to take responsibility for anything and immediately went on the defence the moment I brought up this easily-solvable problem. When a guest presents a problem, the front desk staff need to stop thinking that person is attacking them and actually listen to what someone is trying to tell them. I've worked in customer service for 12 years, that's not how this situation should have been dealt with. Acting so defensive and rude towards paying guests is not acceptable. I should not have been given such a hard time for such a simple solution to the problem. Obviously some staff re-training needs...

From start to finish what a wonderful experience! I travelled here from British Columbia to conduct a business seminar and the hospitality from the staff from start to finish was a second to none experience and something I will recommend to anyone who visits North Bay. At check in Brenna was amazing in helping me familiarize myself with the layout of the hotel and the amenities I had at my disposal for my seminar which was extremely helpful. When my seminar was started our bartender Aline, was an extraordinary ambassador for this town and a great host for helping my clientele network comfortably and truly help me meet the potential of my purpose for being in town. Furthermore, our in conference room server, Destiny was exceptional! She made sure to look after all of my clients needs while not interrupting my business presentation in the least. This was the epitome of maximizing my business dollars for ROI because the event I hosted here was such a well oiled machine thanks solely to the amazing staff and the triple threat of Brenna, Aline, and Destiny. This was my first time ever in North Bay and I’m not sure if I’ll be back but if I am ever back here I know exactly where I’ll stay because the people working at this best western are the best, dynamic team I’ve ever experienced while staying at best westerns. I am a diamond select best western member and this was hands down my best ever experience with the hotel chain. If you ever find yourself in North...
