Where to start...we arrived at 615pm on Friday night. Took couple mins to find a clean table. The 2 servers that were working walked by no less than half a dozen times before we got glasses of water but no menus. There were only 3 tables at the time and one of them already had food. When we got 2 menus for the 3 of us, the menus were in pretty rough shape for being a new restaurant. Very few of the menu items had descriptions of the food( online menu better) and our waitress had no real knowledge of the dishes as it was only her second shift(lack of training), but what she did tell us is that there was good number of dishes not available and that the Thai portion of menu was really available due to it being too late in the day to cook them, kind of odd. After we finally got to place our order roughly 30 mins after sitting down we sat and waited approximately another 25-30 mins for our dishes and only received 2 out of 3 orders. Another 10 mins or so for the 3rd. When we received our order we still didn't have napkins or silverware or plates yet. We had ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Mango Chicken Curry and Butter Chicken, a couple orders of rice and some Naan bread. Chicken dishes lacked any abundance of chicken but were tasty, rice wasn't hot by any standards. Naan bread was the best part of the meal. Near the end of our meal we asked for some takeout containers and the bill and ended up having to chase down the server inside to get both. Check was in the $90 range which is average for the 3 of us but usually we have drinks with our meals at other restaurants. Overall I have to say this restaurant needs to do a lot of work at customer service, organization, cleanliness, portion size( in relation to pricing). No i don't know what their other couple locations in Bracebridge and Huntsville are like, but I'm hoping for the customers at those locations have a much better experience than what we had in North Bay. North Bay has an overabundance of restaurants and if this location doesn't step up their game a few levels they won't get much...
Read moreHave been to Marigold North Bay 4 times. Every time, the food has been great. (Portions not so big, but okay.) Every time, the service has been awkward and sort of unpleasant somehow. At first I figured it was because it was newly opened, cut them some slack. But it's a well established business now. Recently 3 of us went for dinner. Dropped over $200. Again, food: Hilayo! Yum! Ohhh, the saag aloo. Ohhh, the coconut naan. Ohhh, the silky tikka sauce. Etc. Etc. Mahvelous. But. Service? Gehhhh. 2 distracted guys wearing old sweats, clearly not too keen on the whole hospitality thing. Shriveled dying plants on the windowsill. Cold grey lighting- the colourful fixtures couldn't hide the glare from the cheapo bulbs. No music. Weird silence occasionally broken by clanking sounds from the kitchen. We asked 2x for music, they finally put some on. K maybe I'm an old bore, but Boyz2Men or whatever poppy shlock they cranked to 11 wasn't exactly Ambience of India. Like gee whiz, would it kill ya to put on an at least vaguely appropriate youtube playlist or something for background? The final rather hilarious eye roller was 1 guy ripping out a big box of some new appliance or something and constructing it behind our table, while the other guy swept and pulled dust bunnies off a broom. Even the best baingain bartha tastes ick if you're chewing on it while watching your server process floor scunge with bare hands. It wasn't even 8:30, and they closed at 9. I even asked to make sure, because I thought we might be inconveniencing them by staying past closing time. It sure seemed like they were anxious to give us the bum's rush and shut 'er down. It doesn't matter how good the food is: Not going back. Dinner out is an expensive rare treat these days. Not asking to be treated like a queen. A bit of respect for the customer could ...
Read moreNo words can accurately describe the epic meal my wife and I endured tonight. I want to start off by saying that every dish we ordered was beyond outstanding. The food that the cook(s) are serving is truly a deserving 10 + star rating. Each dish came with a rich blend of seasonings and unique flavors. Again the food was mindblowing outstanding. I ordered the samosa and Gobhi Garlic appatizers + the tandoori Tikki platter. My wife ordered the butter chicken with rice, and an order of Garlic Naan bread. The service was great. They were on par, friendly and the wait time for the food was minimal and it came out hot and fresh. The outside of the building has about 5 parking spots and then there is additional parking on the street. While walking in the building they have a billboard with there menu on it for convenience. The inside offers tons of seating inside and they have a beautiful outdoor patio which overlooks Nippising lake. While we were dining, we noticed several families arrive with kids. So super kid friendly. What I also noticed on the menu was (ask the server about heat ratings) they offer anything from super mild spice to Kahlis Revenge which apparently is extremely hot. Also side note if you ask for containers to go. They give you good quality plastic containers with working lids that seal! So if you have a pallet for Indian/Thai food. You will not be disappointed. Highly...
