It could be 5 stars, but...

Well, let us start by the pros. Check-in process was easy and so fast. Even the receptionist guy was so friendly and upgraded our family room to a suite which with King size bed and sofa bed in the entrance area. It was a very nice gesture. We got our room in the 5th floor. Room was up-to-date, spacious with nice decorations and overlooking the Courtyard which was a nice view, and sun entered the room most of the time. It has a microwave which is a good thing, mini fridge, sink inside the room too. Bathroom is spacious. One of its cons that that the air vent works when you switch on the lights. It is a bit annoying when you are taking shower in cold days... It needs to be on a separate switch.

Hotel location is nearby everything. You can stroll in the neighborhood and walk on the "Rideau River" by just few minutes walking. Parliament buildings and museums are not so far by car, around 15 to 20 minutes by car.

Free parking is a good thing offered by the hotel. There are limited spots indoor parking. If it is full, you are allowed to park on an open parking area just beside the hotel.

Nice indoor pool, but it is very small. It needs to be cleaned more frequently for a busy days. It is a little bit tricky to locate the pool or the gym, signs are missing to direct you to the right place. I see that signs are needed to be put to guide to the exact location. Only information we knew that they are located on the 4th floor.

Coffee is offered 24/7 at the entrance area which is very nice thing. Breakfast has a lot of varieties, such as scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cream cheese, sausages or turkey, fruit, muffins, jam, peanut butter, honey, waffle, cereals, toast, baggles and juices. I see it is more than enough...

The most annoying part is the "breakfast area". It is very small that can hardly suit the guests. So you will be standing in a long line. Even after that it will be hard to find a spot to eat. The second annoying thing is the breakfast staff... We didn't feel that we were welcomed at all...! I felt that one of them spoke in a rude manner asking one of my kids if she is done to step away for other guests inline.. It was the first time to have such attitude in a hotel. Also I felt that the same lady keeps watching what we were taking for our breakfast. We didn't feel comfortable at all.. I saw other negative comments regarding those staff too... Clean hotel, friendly staff.

Indoor parking is extremely convenient, park at the front, check-in and then just drive down to the parking.

Clean rooms, modern decor, AC was working properly. No minibar, no room service. Restaurant and bar are located in the hotel next door.

Rough sheets, 70$ on amazon can make these beds feel like a 1 ⭐ hotel.

TV comes with an app to control it but is restricted to the hotel's offering where a few years old Disney movie is 15$ on demand. Other hotels often offer to use the Smart TV apps like Netflix or others, some have TiVo boxes with streaming capabalities or even a Chromecast. I suggest bringing your own TV stick (google, apple, amazon). Live TV guide has only channel names no schedule or show names.

Pool area has 1 sitting spot next to a window, rest of the pool seems to have all its sitting furniture (chairs, long chairs, whatever else you would sit on) removed. Everyone was sitting on the floor while most of the floor in the room was wet from the shower left running or the pool water. Tripping hazard and if we can walk around without a mask we should be able to forego sitting on a wet floor.

Bathroom sink has the water temperature reversed on tap (symbols do not match). Shower and kitchenette were ok. Shower doors had a big gap where water would fall out making the floor wet & slippery.

Breakfast area was full at 8:00. Coffee had run out, had to wait along 15 people for staff to refill and had to wait through lines to get anything hot to eat. That breakfast area cannot accomodate an hotel that size, the lack of an actual restaurant really shows. Coffee is alright.

The bible study programming on TV during breakfast was offensive, what is this? Do they not have news or weather channels available?

This was going to be a soft 3 ⭐ review but the breakfast nailed it down to a solid 2, not a disaster place others might enjoy it, I wouldn't go back again and wouldn't recommend to people I like. It's not horrible, but like the crooked elevator button pointing up in the lobby is crooked, it just all seems like a general lack of effort.

Oh and I wrote this before checking out, the last elevator ride to basement from the lobby with another exasperated gentlemen took 5 mins as the elevator...

We booked this hotel for location requirements and because it was a Hilton brand to which I am loyal. I cannot speak to distance to downtown etc because we stayed in the area. You would have to use google maps etc. ||The staff at front desk were very friendly and welcoming. || Our room was a king with sofa bed. Nice touch with my name on the TV Screen. Room was HUGE. We appreciated the little hospitality counter that had a sink, a Keurig with coffee supplies, a microwave and a small bar-type fridge. Fridge did not have a mini freezer in case you were planning to store some frozen microweable meals.|| The bathroom had a stand alone shower (no tub) which is what we wanted. It would help if they had a hand held showerhead rather than a stationary one. Expect a blast of cold water when you turn on the shower ! Appreciate the safety bar in the shower, but suggest one next to the toilet. Or get raised toilets. Your toilets are TOO LOW to the floor ! Plenty of towels, great water pressure too. Four pillows which was perfect for a King. I hate when there are too many pillows. Pillows and bed were very comfortable and bed was at the perfect height. Charger outlets at bedside table as well as the work desk. ||Breakfast is included and is self serve, taken in the lobby area. Eggs, sausages, waffles, breads, muffins, fruit, yoghurt, juices, coffee. The usual "breakfast is included" fare. It was fresh and there were plenty of choices so you will not walk away hungry. Very pleasant lady working there ready to assist if you need it. The hotel does not have a restaurant. There is a snack bar in the lobby and they also have a 24hr beveridge counter, which serves coffee and hot water for tea, but my coffee was cold. ||Hotel has an underground parking lot, which is sooo much appreciated in Ottawa in the wintertime ! What's nice too is that the elevator from parking will take you to your floor. Also, you need your room key to tap inside the elevator or you're not going anywhere !||Tremendous value as room rate includes breakfast, WIFI and underground parking.||I would definitely stay at the Hampton Inn on...

It's clean. Very clean. And really that's the most important part. Otherwise, the place has been well... used. Apparently they are under renovations (although I saw no work being done, perhaps on purpose), so hopefully they will replace the worn hallway carpets and the severely worn chairs and benches in the breakfast area. To be seen. The breakfast is very decent, although definitely out of a can/bag/bucket. Having it included in the price, can't complain too much. It's too small for the size of the hotel during the busiest times. But you manage. We picked this hotel so my kids could go swimming. Just in time too, since they're closing the pool for... renovations, as of November 11th. The pool room definitely needs a makeover. The pool is nice though, and the hot tub. Jets were broken on the hot tub though. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Some of the breakfast area staff were a bit...much...in terms of coming across annoyed if someone didn't know how to use the waffle maker. Otherwise, they were all very polite and welcoming. They provided us with a playpen, so we didn't have to bring ours, which was great. The pad on the playpen however was soft and deep. My daughter is 6 months old. If she were any younger, I'd be concerned about SIDS with a mattress that thick and soft. Bring your own if you have a young infant. Turning the pad over was just straight hard plastic, so that didn't work either. Take note, parents. Overall I'd definitely go back again, if the price remains the same after the renovations. 😊

My stay at the Hampton hotel was beyond disappointing. First, the moment we entered the room, we were hit with strong smells of cigarette smoke and what seemed like feces coming from the bathroom. We had to constantly keep the door open just to get fresh air. Second, the bed was infested with fleas. After just two nights, my son legs were covered in itchy bites. Suspecting something was wrong, we checked under the sheets and discovered multiple fleas. We reported this to a staff member named Carol Ann, who initially acknowledged the problem and promised us a refund for one of the two nights. However, she later emailed us claiming it wasn’t fleas, but “ground beetles” and “katydids” — neither of which explains the small, jumping insects we both saw, and the bites on my son leg, which only appeared after our stay at the hotel Third, one of the breakfast staff — a shorter woman with blonde hair and noticeable freckles — was quite rude and appeared to treat certain guests with more respect than others. Her attitude stood in sharp contrast to the front desk staff, who were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, that was the only positive part of our stay. I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this situation was serious enough that I felt I had to share it in order to warn other guests. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and an enjoyable experience, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
