I like to frequent the Smitty's restaurant within the facility. I like the fact that the hotel has a designated smoking area for their patrons. However, one Friday evening (about two weeks ago), as I was entering the main doors, there were at least 8 people right in front of the front doors (when the designated smoking area was only off to one side of the building). I approached the front desk to advise them of this issue and before I could get a second breath I was advised "Do I look like law enforcement". Yes, that is exactly what the male front desk clerk said to me. I was so shocked! I said "You may not be but you are here responsible for ensuring your patrons are taken care of" He said "You can call the police if you don't like it"...WOW! As much as I love going to a Smitty's, I am not sure if I would continue going due to the fact that I can't access the doors to the establishment without breathing in smoke from several patrons. I don't care if a person smokes, to each their own, but medically I cannot be around it. My health is what's important. All it took for this Super 8 hotel was to step outside and ask nicely to move to a designated area as calling police does nothing and we all know this including the smokers! So, when I have to book hotels (as I do work with motels/hotels frequently)...I will be sure not to...
Read moreWe were given quite a nice room as a pet friendly room (very spacious, large TV and fireplace not what I would have expected for pet friendly room - impressed this is what we were given), It's rear entry to make it easier/closer to enter had stairs up to a landing and back down to the hall making it a tad awkward to haul all of our suitcases, coolers and dogs etc. Someone older or needing assistance would have to use front entry and walk the long hall. It was very close to the highways so convenient area however it didn't seem as great an exterior area for dogs as I might have preferred. But perhaps I didn't find the right area as it's a large hotel. It had the feel of a truck stop due to lots of traffic and large parking area shared with McDonalds and other businesses. There is a dog park not terribly far from the hotel that we could access the morning as we left which was very convenient. Over all it may not be a place we return to just due to the location and room access with dogs and gear but it's definitely a hotel that met our needs for one night and was a good stay and would recommend it if you want something near to the...
