BED BUGS!!! AWFUL SERVICE!
I booked 4 rooms at this hotel weeks in advance for a basketball trip.
I heard rumours about bed bugs so I called ahead and was reassured that there had been no reports of bed bugs and they have periodic checks by a pest control company. I decided to give the local business a chance and go through with my booking.
We arrived Feb 7th evening and I checked in and paid for the 4 rooms. About a half hour after check-in one of my players found a dead bed bug on the floor and a live bedbug on the bed (see photos attached).
I let the front desk person know and she came and killed the bed bug (red blood splattered on the bed sheet). She said she would ask the manager what to do about our booking.
My team was on our way to our game when the bug was found so the players in the room quickly put their stuff in a different room and we went to our game.
After the game I called to see what their plan was for our booking and was told that we couldn’t get a refund and we’d have to pay for a 5th room if our players didn’t want to stay in the bed bug ridden room!
I decided at this point (9pm) to take my team to stay at a different hotel. I asked the manager for a refund and explained how bad it would look if they didn’t provide a refund for this issue. The manager agreed with me that this would be bad for their reputation and said he thought we should get a refund.
During my conversation with the manager, another worker called the owner who refused to refund us. The owner said he would refund one room but not the other 3. I’m not sure what he expected me to do - stay at the bed bug hotel with half my team and send 4 teenagers to stay at a different hotel by themselves?!!
TLDR: Do not stay here. There are bed bugs. Service is awful. Also TV didn’t work.
PS. After I posted this, I was contacted by “head office” and they offered to send my school a cheque for the rooms that were not originally refunded IF I took my Google review down. I took my review down but heard nothing more about the refund. It’s been 4 weeks and my calls to “head office” are not going through and the message...
Read moreWe have been going to the Terrace area for a number of years, mostly in the pursuit of fish. We have stayed in a number of lodging establishments and this year decided to try the Rest Inn. ||The Rest Inn served our purpose well. It is located on the Lakelse Road, within easy access from the airport, just cross over the Skeena on the Old Skeena Bridge and you are there. Its location is close to the downtown and also to the Yellowhead Highway. The traffic on Lakelse Road is quite light. There is no truck traffic, as it is situated off the Yellowhead, so it is relatively quiet.||The hotel has been newly renovated, its facilities are modern and well maintained. The room we stayed in was well equipped with a Flat screen TV, DVD player, coffee maker, toaster, fridge, microwave, etc. As part of the reasonable hotel rate you are given access to a number of services, including free wifi, gym facilities and free parking. There is even a free breakfast, ample enough to get you going for the day. The hotel is well run by friendly, efficient personnel. ||The area offers sporting opportunities, natural beauty and, of course, Native culture and history. A fascinating place to visit are Nisga'a Lava beds north of town and while you are here, drive out to the Nisga'a village of Gingolx. Also, if you are staying awhile, drive out east to Gatanyow to see their display of totem poles. So, whether you are headed to Prince Rupert or back, or plan a longer stay, check-in at the Rest INN for...
Read moreThe rooms are nice enough, singles have kitchenettes, but I stayed in a double. The bathroom fans are a bit noisy and the door is hard to close and lacks a lock. The fridge is average for hotels, not too small. I had issues with the air conditioner remote signal being picked up. The TVs are 26" 768p, which is borderline acceptable. The cable signal was just coax 480i, which was not cool. My xbox connected through HDMI and looked fine, though. They are wall mounted which is nice as well. They have a traditional coffee maker, no Keurig cups. Free pop and water stocked in the fridge. The have a power bar on the night stand, but I might recommend a extension cable/power bar. The wifi was very poor, sad to say. Continental breakfast consists of muffins, croissants, cereals, fruit, yogurt and toasted goods. No meat or eggs. They have a small gym, only for machine cardio enthusiasts. Parking can be tight if you have a trailer. Hard wood floored rooms, which is nice, they feel clean. Even though the walls are brick, you can still hear your neighbours,...
