I don’t normally write a ton of reviews; and usually I’d leave this until the end of my full experience, if I was going to post a review, but I am fresh off running across campus at almost 8 o’clock at night, teeth unbrushed and hair uncombed just to print 4 pages.
Why is this a problem? Because printing is an amenity we used to have! There used to be a printer in the 2nd floor business centre (less than 5 minutes, no outdoors, could wear your pajamas and be comfortable) but someone broke it, and management has decided that the $1000+ they get per resident/month is NOT enough to afford fixing/replacing it.
It is going to be SOOO FUN in winter with snow on the ground and what feels like 40km/hr winds gusting about the building to have to layer up to go outside across campus for a service that used to be complementary. A trip that used to take 5 mins total in complete comfort now takes 10-20 and promises to be unpleasant.
Other ways I have been really not happy so far this semester:
Communication with residents SUCKS! Why did get 4 notices stuck to my door about filter changes in one month?! What happened to email and why are you so disorganised?
Apparently, there were some pretty big changes in management over summer, but no one thought to update the residents let alone change the staff info on the website!
Planned service interruptions. Fine and dandy BUT give appropriate notice and schedule them at times that make sense. It was really fun staying up past midnight the day before an 8:30 am class because the water was shutoff at the end of the day. Why not during the day?
Room entry. It’s not whenever you feel like! It’s maybe once or twice a semester within reason and with at least 24hrs notice. Not that you’ve stuck a note to the door at past 5pm in the evening for entry at 9am the next day. That is if you’ve even given notice and not just shown up at the door with the bed bug guy to do an inspection, as happened this summer.
You seem to have done away with some of the activities that actually foster a sense of community. Fair enough that attendance was low at floor meetings, but to not even have one at the start of semester was a bad move. I have no idea what most of the RAs even look like, even one of the ones on my floor, and it is no wonder people are not respecting the quiet hours and that the fire brigade was called out. That’s when most of us learn about how to not set off the fire alarm and what not to do to make it worse.
I guess Res Cup is no longer a thing. Fair enough too. But then why are the walls plastered with Drake’s face? What am I supposed to feel proud about being on the second floor for? Who even decided to use a real person instead of an abstract figure for the mascot?
I’m going to stop here but suffice it to say, I am not very happy right now and this place feels like it’s getting worse every semester. Maybe someone will read this, and I’ll have a better opinion by the time I move out, but I am really not holding my breath.
P.S. I will be fair and say that there are pros to living in the residence. Suites are well designed and sufficient for student living, convenience store is a plus, transport options are pretty good between campuses and for shopping.
Hope and pray for a courtyard-facing suite; I have had both and I detest the lack of privacy and high noise levels in the...

Pros: Great location, roughly 20 mins to STC or 30 mins to Morningside campus by TTC. The extra money spent on rent will be saved in not needing a car. If you do have a car, and plan to buy a parking pass for any campus, your parking at the residence will be included and you only need to buy one pass. Great amenities. Fitness room has a functional trainer system which is great for upper body workouts, some dumbbells and treadmills, and full time students have access to the AWC gym on Progress for everything else. Secure building with key card access, standard for most apartments. Security present at night. Suite rooms are on the small end, but come with ample storage space. The walls are sturdy and properly soundproofed. Others who have reviewed complaining of thin walls are too sensitive and probably complain about noise everywhere they go, as this building is VERY well soundproofed. WiFi is generally reliable and strong Management is professional and responsive to problems. Student staff (RAs) vary widely, some care for their responsibilities whilst others do not. Given how immature and irresponsible most residents are though, I can sympathize with the staff and hope none of them end up hurt while dealing with the alcoholics and quieting parties every night. Maintenance staff respond professionally, appropriately and timely to work orders, which can be conveniently submitted online. Carefully read and consider the terms of the lease agreement before you sign it, which is logical to do with any legal contract. If you sign a lease without reading it and then think you can just change your mind about living here, you’re going to be disappointed, such as some reviewers here.
Cons: As a student living 3 hours from my home and family, focused on my education, I don’t fit in well with Centennial Place’s population of alcoholics and psychotic party animals. Expect your neighbours to be intellectually disinclined children that care much more about the next big party, rather than their next big test. Roughly 2/3 of the residents will be partying most weekends. Plan to take your studying elsewhere. The fire alarm routinely goes off at night, on nearly a monthly basis, at no fault of the management. Residents will smoke cannabis or cigarettes in their suites and are often surprised to learn that this triggers fire alarms, so if they haven’t illegally tampered with them, everyone will have to leave the building. Again, this is thanks entirely to your stupid neighbours. Management unfortunately does not discipline strictly enough, which is why fire alarms are a recurring issue for all tenants. The lowest priced suite is $1033 monthly this year, which is several hundred dollars above fair market value for similar apartments in Scarborough. Consider other options before you settle on Centennial Place if cost is...
Read moreMy first home in Canada, as an international student from Sri Lanka. My experience at the residence has been wonderful honestly, that is why I needed to write a review to thank them for my experience of living there for three years Aug 2016 to May 2019. Started by staying in four bedroom with roommates. As a newcomer, I was so glad everything was furnished and ready to move-in. Staff was so friendly and helpful did not make me homesick for first few weeks since they had awesome events planned. My roommate is my best friends Sofia from Ukraine, we had an amazing sharing the kitchen making dishes and sharing recipes from our countries. So glad I was able to share the bathroom with her because both of us liked to keep things neat and tidy. I did have a few bad experience with my other roommates not with the property since they did not care about cleaning the common area. I did try my best to have movie night or cook something to share but they always just misunderstood us. Even thought we had issues the residence staff were so helpful in solving our issues so we felt safer.
As a student taking hospitality and tourism administration, it was a three-year program. It was so convenient to live on-campus because Centennial Place and School of hospitality, tourism and culinary art shared the building. Separate entrances to enter but I did not have to worry about the long commute. I know I made the best decision to keep on renewing to continue living there until my program because it help me to network and attend so many program in college. Made use of my entire college experience by living and studying in the same place. Talking about location it was a hub for everything. Getting to know to Ontario and living on-campus was so help since the resident staff hosting events so explore the city. Mostly making friends at those events and we had our adventure of sightseeing. So happy to find a community make new friends. Additionally events for students at the student center, I did not have to worry about getting home late because I felt safe to walk on Campus back to my dorm.
I had to put my recommendation since it is sad to see so many talking bad even thou I seen most them coming for residence events. Personally, I had a great experience. Thank you so much Centennial Place...
