There is no disputing the beauty, style and cleanliness of this place as it is absolutely beautiful. The hosts were a quiet mannered and friendly couple. However, not long after arriving and settling in for the evening we were told that they would not be serving breakfast. It was explained they had issues in the past with hockey teams not being able to eat together, so we said no worries we will figure something out in the morning. I did feel that this should have been communicated prior, but some of the moms did have a few things and our 1st game was not until 10 so I knew we would figure it out in the morning. So you can imagine the surprise in the morning when we sat with our own fruit and cereal bars to see other guests (non-hockey) being served a full cooked breakfast while we were offered yogurt and Fruity Pebbles. This happened both mornings we were there, although the 2nd morning there were also muffins. Then to go up stairs to our beautiful room, which I paid more for because it had a jacuzzi to see a note telling us not to use it in the winter months, was another surprise that was not shared prior. I know it may seem like there could be tension from the beginning but there was not, I never said anything about breakfast or the jacuzzi. I was surprised, but did not want to make a fuss. There were 4 moms with our 4 girls, and I have to be honest I did not feel comfortable, I felt like we were being monitored the whole time. The girls felt the same and for the most part we all stayed in our rooms together. The 2nd night just prior to going to bed our girls turned on some music and were dancing, they were so excited to play the next morning, I will admit they were likely being loud, but it was not yet 11:00 and it had only been a song and a ½ when I looked up to see one of the owner standing in my door. She had used the code and opened our door. To say I was shocked was not the word. She asked us to quiet down, which I can definitely appreciate as there were other guests but I do feel that she could have knocked or waited until the song was over to knock louder, if needed, rather than open our door. There are so many scenarios that have been taking place behind that door and I truly felt it was a breach of some sort of privacy. I will say that if you are a quiet couple looking to stay in a beautiful home with another quiet couple (the owners, as they stayed on site) or a group who plan to go to bed early then this could be a great choice. However, I do not feel like children who may make noise are welcomed, or maybe it us parents who allowed it, I am not 100% certain. Either way I felt the...
Read moreOur first visit to Iceberg Alley B&B was in October 2024. We had some issues with the ferry getting to NL from NS and arrived about 5 hours later than anticipated. Danny and Wendy were absolutely fantastic and understanding about our delay. By the time we arrived, we had sent so many messages back and forth it felt like we had known them for years. The accommodations elevate the term B&B to an entirely new level. The property is more reflective of a country inn. The decor is outstanding, with many little nooks in the common area to settle in and read a book, or pull up a chair and have a chat with a fellow guest. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed; and very roomy. Given the location on the top of the “hill” there are great views in all directions. The bed was extremely comfortable. Wendy and Danny are great hosts, and have a wealth of knowledge regarding activities and other things to see and do; there are great hiking trails in the area. Wendy and Danny are the epitome of Newfoundland hospitality. If the bed “B” in B&B was fantastic, the breakfast “B” is amazing. You will arrive a stranger and leave as a friend.||As it turns out my second visit was in March 2025 to attend a family funeral. Wendy knew one of the reasons we visited was to spend some time with an elderly family member; one of the last things she said as we were leaving in October was that they were always available in the off season if we needed a place to stay for an emergency. Little did I realize that I would take them up on that offer so quickly. I called Danny on a Sunday, and all he wanted to know was when I was arriving, no questions asked. In all our travels, Iceberg Alley is one place we look forward to...
Read moreWe spent two nights but only about a day and a half in Twillingate at the Iceberg Alley B&B. It is readily apparent the care and comfort Wendy and Danny provide to their guests. Wendy contacted us by text the morning of our arrival and knew we would be late arriving from St. John’s. She recommended some stops for food along the way recognizing that some places might be closed once we arrived in town (we actually took her up on the Rosie’s in Gander recommendation when we departed). She provided clear instructions on how to check into our Gander Bay room (beautiful and spacious) and everything went off without a hitch. Breakfast was delicious and an opportunity to chat with different travelers each day. Both Danny and Wendy offer great recommendations on things to do and see and we only wish we were able to spend another day or two. And the location is perfect. Twillingate is certainly not big but this B&B is right in the middle of everything and up on a hill with great views, including an iceberg floating in on our last day. Thank you for the...
