Hotel Apacheta — Hotel in Arica

It’s almost as perfect as you could imagine, with one big but.|We spent three idyllic days here, reading and watching the ocean including seals and hundreds of birds. |The rooms are on two levels, each with a private balcony, literally 20m from the water, give or take a few meters depending on whether the tide is in or out. |There’s a swimming pool - it’s the ocean! But they’ve built a little wall around it for protection . The water is pretty cold. You can’t swim when the tide is out for obvious reasons!|Our room was delightful - quite rustic in character. Very comfortable bed, a powerful shower and lots of shelves to put things.|There are several very pleasant communal areas with self service tea and coffee, books and magazines. The restaurant is lovely. It’s partially open air and you’ll need a cardigan as it’s chilly when there’s an onshore wind. Food and service were both good. Top tip - if you want to eat there in the evening you need to book and pre-order. They give you copious amounts of information but we must have missed this detail. They kindly accommodated us but understandably we had to wait until everyone else had been served and we had no choice - fair enough. Breakfast was very pleasant too. Reception staff are very welcoming, helpful and speak excellent English. |So far all perfect. However, we asked reception to book us a taxi to the airport. It never turned up. Luckily Uber is very reliable and even better we caught our flight. I had already written this review and had given 5*. Rather than making this complaint public we sent a WhatsApp to the hotel but they never responded. A simple apology would have been enough. Hence a public comment and...

What a wonderful hotel. I booked this stay for 2 nights to decompress after a busy backpacking trip around Chile. It is incredibly clean, peaceful and so unique. I enjoyed sitting on my balcony or in the communal areas all day...just admiring the waves, the locals playing around the reefs, and the occasional pup rolling around in the sand. ||When I first booked I wasn't sure if I'd be able to swim because it all seems pretty rocky & with lots of waves...turns out there's a perfect little cove which almost feels like the hotels private pool. It was perfect for some cooling down after sunbathing. ||The free breakfast was plenty. I only had 1 dinner there and it was delicious.||The location is a bit far from the main area if you don't have a car...about 30min walking. I only went once to stock up on supplies and didn't have to go back. There are a few great restaurants along the coast that are less than 10 minutes away if you're just looking for a nice dinner out or sunset cocktail - though in my opinion, your balcony with a nice glass of wine is the best location for sunset viewing.||My one suggestion is to add a fan to the room. It was HOT in there...and there's no window top open, just the full balcony door so I didn't want that open all night. ||Wonderful stay...worth the trek up...

Nosso ônibus chegava em Arica antes das 6h da manhã. Pelo horário não usual, fizemos contato prévio com o hotel pelo WhatsApp para avisar e para verificar se haveria alguém disponível na recepção - como resposta, recebemos o retorno de que a recepção funciona 24 horas por dia e não haveria problema nenhum com o horário de chegada - somente não conseguiríamos entrar no quarto antes das 8h.

No entanto, ao chegar de fato no hotel (após uma noite inteira no ônibus), nos deparamos com um funcionário despreparado, que ficava resmungando, e claramente dava indicações que estávamos perturbando-o. Ele não conseguia nem ligar o computador para verificar a reserva. Em momento algum, fez algum esforço para agilizar o serviço, limitando-se a dizer que precisávamos aguardar chegar alguém que soubesse o que fazer. Não forneceu informação objetiva, nem minimamente que horário pudéssemos conversar com alguém sobre check-in.

Mais de uma hora depois, chegou uma outra pessoa e, novamente sem explicar nada para a gente, pediu os passaportes e o pagamento da diária. Somente depois disso confirmou que o check-in seria apenas a partir das 15h, contrariando mensagem escrita pelo próprio hotel que havíamos recebido por e-mail semanas antes indicando que haveria a possibilidade de fazermos check-in mais cedo - mensagem que foi mostrada ao atendente, que então, neste momento, se limitou a dizer que a informação que havíamos recebido (reforço, do próprio hotel) "estava equivocada", sem explicar o motivo.

Saliento que não queríamos forçar uma situação ou burlar nenhuma regra diferente do que havia sido nos informado previamente e a partir da qual programamos esse trecho da viagem.

Após eu apontar que era muito conveniente o repasse da informação - feita de maneira grosseira, aliás - ter sido fornecida somente depois do pagamento, o atendente limitou-se a dar de ombros. Nesse momento, comecei a gravá-lo, em vídeo e áudio, para ter comprovação do absurdo que estava ocorrendo.

A atitude dele mudou de novo e foi só então que chegou a cogitar a opção de fornecer um quarto antes das 15h - e exatamente da maneira como havíamos sido informados previamente por e-mail, com a condição que eu apagasse a gravação. Me recusei e, finalmente, conseguimos simplesmente cancelar a reserva.

Houve falta de respeito no tratamento conosco desde o primeiro contato. Foi uma experiência horrível para a impressão do atendimento no local logo de cara e que não recomendo a ninguém que...
