We stayed one night to catch a early morning by to Bolivia. This hostal is okay. It is very close to the bus station and our bus was at 6am. Having stayed in Hostal España in Calama a couple of nights earlier (before we went to San Pedro de Atacama) I would recommend to book there it lovely. |Hostal El Loa was noisy in the corridor, in fact noise echoed everywhere. Every time you left you had to leave your key at reception. There was no hot water in the shower. Had some fun with our limited Spanish asking for the kettle a few times. depending on the person we got all kettle and cups with promises to return it as soon as possible or simply hot water in a cup. So some more than basic Spanish is necessary. However, staff was friendly, on the last day they offered us transfer to the airport or bus station. My friend got some issues with hot water, however, you just need to wait for around 5 minutes and it will appear in the shower. Not really happy with such waste of water but what...
Read moreThis is definitely a budget hotel with relatively friendly staff. The hostel itself, including the kitchen were clean with most necessities supplied. It is also convenient to the main bus station and parallel to one of the main shopping streets. The big and only complaint is that although the sheets were clean and freshly washed the other blankets on the bed were not so they had lots of sticky spots and a relatively bad odour.
