HOSTAL LEJANA PATAGONIA — Hotel in Cochrane

I am sad to give a one star review but the way we have been treated by the two employees (a guy from Colombia and another lady) on december 1st in the evening.

We were sleeping in a room on the ground floor near the common area and dining room. When we wanted to sleep around 10pm we asked if the two employees could be a little more quiet. They said to us that after 11pm it is quiet hour. So, fair enough, rules of the house. When the 11th hour passed we asked again if they could stop talking en listen music in front of our room. Their first reaction was extremely rude and they said, and i quote: ‘this is already the third time you asked(it was the first time after 11pm), if we want to keep talking we will, and we can do what we want to because this is a hostel. Oh and you should buy earplugs’

Really? We have just been told that after 11 it is quiet hour but apparently not then… so the way we have been treated is disgusting in my opinion. We are paying customers… So sad that two terrible people can ruin what should have been a nice stay. They refuse to take responsibility for their terrible behavior and keep on saying that we were at fault… the only thing we did was to ask if they could be quiet so that we could sleep.. that is what we paid...

We’ve had a very very negative experience. My partner and I have been traveling for over a year, and this has been the most rude, unfriendly, and unreasonable staff we’ve experienced. We got a room right in front of reception and in our case, the two staff members were constantly talking, watching movies, playing music. They told us quiet hour was at 23:00 - all good, no problem. After 23:00, I friendly asked if they could be a bit more quiet and put the music volume down because we wanted to sleep, but I immediately got an extremely rude, arrogant, attacking and belittling response. Among other things, they told me they didn’t care and they “could do what they want because it’s a hostal and not a hotel” and that I should “just buy earplugs”. Honestly, I can’t understand why it’s an offensive or triggering question? And why the agressive response? It’s a mystery to me, but nonetheless a horrible stay. I also tried to get in touch with the staff again about what happened, only to hear that it was all my fault and I don’t know how to...

Some reviews might lead you to think that this is a much better place than we found it to be. The rooms are really small and do not have private bathrooms. In fact, there is only one shared bathroom per gender for the entire hallway (counting about 12 rooms) which I find quite limited. The walls are cardboard thin and the floors groan making you believe somebody is moving between the extremely narrow stretches between your bed and the walls although it is noises coming from next door.||Price wise we were also negatively astonished as a double room costs twice the price of a single room.
