We stayed at this Hotel during our travel through the Careterra Austral in May 2013. It was obviously well past the tourist season in Futaleufu and we were glad to stay at this hotel which has a 'wild west' feel to it.||||From the vintage bike parked in a prime location at the reception area, to the wide stairs and corridors, the place had a woody and old, yet welcoming feel to it. The room was functional but the room itself and the attached bath, were exceptionally clean. A gas fired room heater helped keep the room warm.||||The kitchen was closed for the off season, but the owner served us a breakfast of bread, preserves, cheese and eggs to order. We ate our meals at Martins where the owner-lady chef served us some of the finest food that we have eaten during our travels across the globe.||||Hosteria Rio Grande is certainly dated and in need of some refurbishment. But the owner is soft spoken and friendly, as were the two school girls who greeted us shyly, on arrival. This hotel gave us positives vibes and we enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. We will gladly...

They run out of Shampoo and gave us a tiny unit of shampoo that was enough for one person, and the shower-gel is the hand wash soap from the sink. The breakfast is very basic and we recieved a portion of 1 egg scrambled for 2 people.
For 80K CLP I don't think I received the value I was expecting.
Thank you for the...
Read moreThere are not many places to stay in Futaleufu. And if you arrive off season, there are less!||We stayed 2 nights at Rio Grande and had the hostel almost for ourself. ||The room was big and had a comfortable bed. The carpet on the floor was quite old and looked not so nice anymore. ||Bathroom was small but OK. Everything was clean.||||Breakfast was not that much. The classic things: bread, butter, jam, bit of cheese and bit of ham. When we asked for orange juice the lady looked as she never heard that people drink juice for breakfast and answered quite confused: no orange juice. Only instant coffee is available. ||||The owner is great, he knows the area and is willing to help to plan a trip. As mentioned we were in off season and all the travel agencies were not open yet, so he suggested some...
