I stayed at the Hotel Tres Puntas in Valle Nevado, Chili for a four day ski trip with one of my sons. ||I can't stress enough that Tres Puntas is a very minimal hotel. You get a small room with two small beds and a tiny shower. There is a TV and a small refrigerator but no coffee maker. The place is clean and well kept but that is about all you can say. ||The ski day at Valle Nevado goes from 9am to 5. You ski yourself into the ground then come back to your hotel to eat and sleep. ||If you are basically looking for a bed to sleep on for a fairly cheap rate then this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for a ski resort hotel experience then you need to pay for the other two real hotels in town. This is literally a place to sleep with a door that locks.||On the positive side the people who work there are awesome. They were super friendly and tried their best to make it a good experience. ||The food is amazing also. I had free dinner and breakfast and it was a lot more than I expected. It was filling and well made. ||Some quick pieces of advice. First as soon as you book call the hotel and figure out the dining situation. I waited too long and ended up having dinner at 8:30 every night.||Second, if you're staying on a Friday or Saturday you need to try to get the lowest possible floor room. The hotel is a reverse hotel on a hill. The bar is floor 9, the lobby is floor 8 and the rooms are 7 through 1 going down the hill. There is a music party on Friday and Saturday that starts at 10:00 p.m. and runs till 2:00 a.m. and I was four floors below it and it still kept me awake. And I had brought ear plugs because I read about it before I came. ||Finally, I really hope you speak Spanish. I don't and I managed to get through the weekend but I did end up eating some things I didn't intend to just because I didn't really understand what the waiter was saying to me. There are very few people here who speak English.||Overall I got what I paid for and what I expected. Skiing at Valle Nevado is a blast and this was a very economical...
Read moreThere's really only three resort-run hotels up at Valle Nevado and this is the least expensive one. So you kind of have to temper your expectations for it based on that. Tres Puntas is not the fanciest hotel and is fairly spartan, but at least the room was clean and staff were all very kind and supportive. If you're an American, bring a Chilean plug adapter (all of the plugs are Type C). | |Breakfast and dinner are included with the resort package. There's no reservations required for the breakfast buffet, but make sure to get your reservations in early for dinner, otherwise you'll end up with 9:30 reservations like my group. Granted, we were able to walk in earlier than our reservation each day. Food was pretty good, and drinks (which aren't included in the total cost) were fairly inexpensive by American resort standards. ||For those looking to maximize skiing, there's luggage storage in the lobby where you can stash your bags before the check-in or after checking out. When I was there, if you vacate your room before 10:00 a.m. on the last day, you'll get a free lift ticket. ||One major downside with this hotel is that it's the only late-night nightlife destination at the resort. So, if you're a light sleeper like I am, bring earplugs. Our room was four floors down from the Tres Puntas pub, which has pretty loud parties on Friday and Saturday nights. The sound carried through the thin walls of this hotel. Not a fun situation to be kept up at night by the music while still acclimating to...
Read moreI spend $500.00 US DOLLARS per night at the HOTEL TRES PUNTAS that included a HORRIBLE breakfast at the RESTAURANTE SUR with an EXTREMELY BAD service, a room with CHEAP linens, BAD QUALITY mattresses, room's FURNITURE comparable to a CHEAP and OUTDATED hostal, and a acceptable buffet dinner with a TERRIBLE and rude service at the Hotel Puerta del Sol.||Customer service overall, at The Hotel Tres Puntas, and as well at the rest of the places in Valle Nevado; FELT you were asking for an ugly favor. The only acceptable customer service we receive were from our private SKI instructors, some of the BOTONES at the hotel, and some of the SKI RENTAL staff. Everybody else in our perspective were rude. We did have a good experience with one of lady's concierge at the hotel. | |Best TIPS for people planning a trip to VALLE NEVADO base in my terrible experience: ||1. Get an accident insurance for ski resorts that cover VALLE NEVADO, the little hospital that is at VALLE NEVADO is super expensive.||2. Do not stay for the night at ANY HOTEL in VALLE NEVADO, it is not worthy in my perspective.||3. If you go for the day, and you can afford around 1200 $USD take the helicopter round trip shuttle from Santiago to Valle Nevado. It is just 15 minutes vs 60 curves and 2 hours of road.||The snowboard and ski experience at Valle Nevado is WORTHY. And the place is overall is beautiful. It's a shame the rest...
