This hotel was recommended to us by our ski travel agent, PowderQuest. We were very pleased with the lodging and I wanted to give some notes on our stay to help set up your expectations for a truly memorable stay.||||First and foremost, the food here is incredible. It was the best food we had in our entire two week trip to Chile which was so unexpected from a small ski lodge where dining options are limited to say the least. The food was truly 5 stars and the highlight of our stay.||||The service is wonderful. Very friendly. They are there to help you with whatever it is you need, whether that be a ride to the ski resorts, a recommendation for a bottle of wine with your meal, or setting up an impromptu happy hour on their upstairs deck to take in the stunning sunset. Note: While they make all attempts to communicate with you in English, and do quite well, knowing a fair amount of Spanish will be helpful communicating with the staff here.||||As I mentioned above, the views are stunning. You see the sunset over Santiago each evening and the view from here is just incredible. It just seemed to get better every night. Another true highlight of our stay.||||The rooms are mixed in terms of size and comfort. We stayed with a group of friends and there was a wide variety in our rooms. The room downstairs our single friend stayed in was pretty basic and had an older bathroom. He had a little trouble with his heater during his stay as well, although the staff did everything they could to resolve the issue. Our room on the second floor was nicely appointed and had a remodeled bathroom but was quite small. The other couple we visited with also had a room on the second floor, which was similarly appointed but a bit more spacious. I wish I would have read the other reviews before our stay so I could have requested one of the top floor rooms, which appeared to not only be larger, but also have much better views and access to a nice rooftop deck (where we had our impromptu "happy hour" one evening).||||The property has WIFI but it is so slow it is almost unusable. We are quite tech savvy so we tried to reset the router and do various things to fix it but I think it is just a very slow connection. Not a deal killer given how wonderful the overall experience was, but worth a note if that is important to you. It just forced us to disconnect and enjoy the experience of where we were.||||I would happily recommend this property to friends visiting the area with the notes above to set up proper expectations for a...
Read moreStayed here for several days during a ski trip. We stayed in one of the two best rooms on the top floor, La Cordillera. As mentioned in previous reviews, the room shares a large balcony with the other room on the top floor and has gorgeous views of the mountains, as well as downtown Santiago. These rooms and baths, and the dining room are very nicely renovated. We had a rental car and there was convenient parking on the road below the hotel. The setting is beautiful and nice to walk around at night (or during the day if you're not skiing). The road up to Farellones is a bit scary, about 40 narrow switchbacks, but a nice adventure. We skied at Valle Nevado, so were not able to take advantage of the free shuttle, but there was not much snow this year and Valle Nevado had better conditions and is a much larger ski area. The drive from the hotel was fairly short. Breakfast and dinner is included and the cuisine was excellent. There were three courses at dinner, with two choices for each course. Also a nice cocktail hour with innovative and attractively presented appetizers, and complimentary wine. A little Spanish is helpful, although we were able to communicate with limited Spanish ability. Christophe, the owner is French Canadian, and English speaking. A previous review mentioned a problem with hot water in the shower. Ask for directions on how to use the instant hot system. Once it was explained to us that you need to keep the pressure high, there was no problem. There are a lot of stairs. The staff helped carry our luggage and ski gear. It was not a problem for us, but for those who have problems with knees or going up and down stairs, it would be difficult. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it any time of year, ski season or not. Even for a nice romantic...
Read moreStayed here in the little town of Farellones with great views and wonderful service.||We booked the best room 'Condor' on the top floor which had great views out of huge floor to ceiling windows covering two windows and a huge shared balcony to watch the sun setting over far off Santiago which is clearly visable on days when Santiago pollution allows.||The staff/Owners were very accomodating and allowed us to add an extra bed to the room for our teenage son as the place was fully booked for our 6 days there.||Breakfast & dinners were included. Breakfast was fairly basic, continental style but dinners elaborate and well done. Though there is no menu if you have a dislike for something in particular (seafood/fish in my case) they are quick to offer alternatives. The meals were always top notch and the desserts exquisite.||Service is great though not much English is spoken by the staff but the owners Anna & Christophe are always on hand and they speak English.||Our only trouble was getting steady hot water for the showers but this was their first season to have the too floor open as it was new construction so I am sure this will be rectified soon. ||There is no free transport to the Valle Nevado ski area but they were able to recommend a driver. There was however free transport to La Parva, El Colorado & Farellones ski areas via the ever friendly staff driver Oscar.||Farellones ski area is even walkable from the hotel and there you can buy tickets to El Colorado, here you can take the T-bar up the hill to reach the bottom of those slopes and ski down at the end of the day,...
