We stayed at LQ Hotel in one of the executive rooms in our travels over the New Year break and I am happy to say that we were very impressed. Our transfer driver was courteous and energetic, ushering us warmly from door 6 to the awaiting shuttle. Him taking care of our luggage was a deeply appreciated gesture, especially after our long haul flight - not every hotel's driver has made this gesture in our travels. We were taken to the hotel which was a stone's throw away, a welcome relief as again, after a long flight, the last thing we wanted was to sit in traffic. This location makes the hotel very ideal for travellers who are stopping over in Santiago. A well made, warm bed and hot shower in a nice interior is a godsend between layovers.
Indeed, we liked the interior. It is nice and quiet, which is remarkable being so conveniently located near the airport and arterial. The building is clearly quite new and everything is neatly in order. At check-in, I stopped momentarily to take in the modern entrance hall which has been appointed in a way that exudes a subtle upmarket air. It was clean, the colour coordination and well-chosen artwork complement the environment nicely. After an easy check-in by the lovely clerk, we retired to our room which was equally well appointed and inviting. The wallpaper, artwork, furnishings and decor - all come together harmoniously. I liked the attention to detail, including the addition of USB charging ports which in this day and age is abundantly helpful for travellers with devices and no adaptor.
Importantly, and as a result of the above, the quality of our rest that evening was excellent, a rare and special relief to enjoy while travelling. It provided us with great energy to continue our travels the next day, after a spot of breakfast.
The continental breakfast was superb. All the choices are there, and their crispier yet smaller take on bacon was quite tasty for the morning.
We noticed there was a spa, pool and gym, and families with children found great enjoyment with these facilities, as well as weary travellers wanting to relax a little. There were several conference and boardrooms too, and although we did not have much use as short-term holidaymakers, we could see their value for corporate or business guests. Waiting temporarily in the comfy lounge area for the hourly shuttle, we also noticed another nice detail; a direct link to the airport's flight statuses and departure times. A small but considerate detail, this makes good sense owing to its location and appeal to air travellers.
All in all, LQ Hotel deserves every star; the location is excellent, the building is new and modern, the staff are lovely and professional, the interior is well designed and thoughtfully decorated, the facilities are abundant and the food is tasty. I look forward to staying here the next time I come to Santiago.

Read moreThe front desk staff insisted on wanting a piece of paper from immigration to give us the foreigner rate, despite us having foreign passports and boarding passes. None of the other hotels we stayed at during our 2-week stay in Santiago, Puerto Montte, Puerto Verde, Cholie island, Castro, Ancud etc gave us this much trouble. At all other places, the staff were courteous, helpful, and took all the information from our passports. But not LaQuinta. They were rude, asked us to read the policy, and refused to take information from our passports, and they insisted that they had to charge us the 19% tax because we did not have this paper! We were prepared to go back to the airport to get it, but they were unhelpful on how to get it either. After paying the higher fee, we spent the rest of the night searching for the paper and found 2 from our party of 3. Again, they refused because the person whose reservation was under did not have the paper! After going back and forth, finally, another person at the reception fixed the problem and gave us the proper rate.|Why? after traveling the whole day, being tired, do they treat customers like this? The only reason we booked this hotel was because it was close to the airport and had a shuttle. The staff was rude and unhelpful. There was also no coffee or anything in the morning, although our room rate included breakfast. They did not offer us anything! Other places had coffee and snacks. This experience on our last day put a damper on our trip! Otherwise, we had a fantastic time in Chile, and the people were so helpful and friendly, but not at LaQuinta. In hindsight, it would have been better to stay downtown and take an Uber, we would have had a better experience. Do not recommend this place as the whole experience was not worth it! We should have headed to the...
Read moreI had a poor experience at this hotel during my trip to Chile.
Rooms: The rooms are clean and spacious, however due to a lot of very loud road noise throughout the night they arent particularly comfortable for sleep.
Shuttle service: Although the hotel offers a free shuttle is is quite poor. Should your flight be delayed, etc. And you need to rebook it is extremely difficult to rerequest. Furthermore, the saftey in the shuttle is concerning. During my stay, the driver transported more passengers than the allowed capacity, and while accommodating this additional person, hit my partner in the head with a piece of luggage and did not apologise. When reportedthe receptionist, Valetina Bustos at check in, she dismissed the concerns, stating that it was acceptable since everyone reached their destination. The vehicle being over capacity meant seatbelts could not be used also. It is not unreasonable to expect that their transportation services prioritise safety. I had to use this service a second time, this time with a differnt driver, despite there only beong 6 of us in the vehical, again seatbelts were obstructed from use, and the back seats were moving (not fixed in one place) meaning that whenever the car stoped the seat backs would slam into our backs. If an accident had occurred, we would have been in extreme danger.
