Most reviews praise the staff!! I couldn’t agree with those more!! The five stars are for the amazing and genuinely kind staff!! Yanina, Ignacio and the tall young man whose name I did not get were so sweet and helpful!! The chef whose name I also did not get is fantastic! He works from 6am to 10:30pm daily all by himself!! Wow!! My daughter and I were there for five nights and had dinner there a couple nights. The dishes were excellently prepared, delicious and very reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet is also very good!! I asked for a boiled egg once and the next day a boiled egg was waiting for me! Very thoughtful chef (and Yanina who also remembered). ||Yes the rooms definitely need some TLC and updating but our room was very clean. And the public areas are beautiful, spacious and also very clean. ||The views are so wonderful. We have the water and mountain views from our room. The fancy hotel next door the Singular Patagonia has the same views but they charge $2000+/night. ||The distance to town is not an issue for us. In fact I think HD is much better positioned than the in-town hotels are, away from the noise and tourists of the town yet it’s not that far from town. I walked into town three times. It’s about an hour-long leisurely paced walk along the beautiful lake. It’s also easy to call a cab or uber for around US$4-5. ||Another plus for the location of HD is that the hotel is closer to Torres del Paine than the town is. The hiking and other tours we took always picked us up last and dropped us off first which means we spent a lot less time on the bus than others did!! Also the hotel is a 4-min walk to Puerto Bories which is a plus if you’re taking any boat rides from there. ||Overall a...

Read morePros: Front desk staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful! 5 stars for service. On the outskirts which is a pro and con but nice with a rental car to get to Torres Del Paine. If you want to leave early the staff will leave out items if you coordinate this in advance. Plenty of hot water and rooms are dated but tidy. They are trying to keep the place up. Nice view!||Cons: Very hot with no way to control the room warmth. We had to open a window| which was a bit funny due to the strong| gusts raising the ceiling panels. Breakfast is okay a bit better than a chain hotel back home. Nice that they have eggs and fruit but otherwise very sweet options. If you dont have a car you will pay about 4000 chilean pesos or USD 6 to go to town on ed way, walk 30-40 minutes on a path (depending on your designation in town), or take a shuttle (the times are on a fixed schedule and were not very convenient for us). Must have a rental car at least part of the time! Big tour groups staying there can be loud, so ear plugs are advised. ||Anyway, customer service was excellent and lodging was comfortable enough so we cannot...
