The hotel's 6 individual, round cabins are built of adobe and therefore provide excellent thermic equilibrium: cool during the hot desert days, but releasing the heat they absorbed, during the chilly nights. The rooms are delightfully furnished, and each has its own back-yard. There is a lovely - if chilling - lap pool. Even me, the hardened Swiss who swims in an Alpine lake each summer, had to warm up - literally - to the cold freshwater. However, the second day it felt a bit warmer, and by the third day I was literally hooked to the cold swim as a reward after the desert hikes and explorations. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, in particular the receptionist who gave us plenty of useful advice regarding optimal timing of excursions to view flamingos, geysers, mountain lagoons, desert villages, etc. Her advice on San Pedro's restaurants were also on spot, but as you can read below, there is no need to go "astray," because:||The Naturalis's restaurant service, while a bit "restrictive" (they want your dinner confirmation by 3 PM), is simply excellent. We only ordered it for the last night of our 4 night stay and were truly sorry we hadn't taken them up on it before. Being there during low season, we were the only guests that night, and they treated us to a romantic candle-light dinner - their wine choice, while limited, is excellent - as it behoves a Chilean eatery.||The Naturalis is a bit outside of town, but tour operators will pick travelers up, and indeed if you are happy to relax after a busy day, there is no need to go out again (see above). The only (minor) complaint I have is the non-existent wifi. We caught the signal for the first time during our last breakfast. Regarding the question below, whether the rooms offer great views: it's sort of the wrong question to ask: There is a lovely garden, and yes there are mountains in the distance, but it's the atmosphere, rather than a breathtaking view - of which there are plenty during day trips and hikes - that...

We were recently travelling in Chile and stayed for three days in San Pedro de Atacama. We stayed in hotel Naturalis. Absolute loved it. See below for detailed review.
Staff:
Alex (host) and his team are fantastic. Super friendly and helpful. Alex goes out of his way to make you feel very comfortable and ensures that you really enjoy your stay. He even helped us book our transfers and helped with our tours.
Hotel:
The hotel is in a very quiet location. It is beautiful and has lots of greenery and a very calming feeling when you're there. There's a nice area to sit by a fireplace and enjoy a drink, or you can hop into a hammock and do some stargazing. There's also a nice pool to jump into when it gets hot during the day.
Room:
Super comfortable bed. Room has a fridge which they provide filtered water in. Bathroom is great, fantastic shower. Much needed after a hot day in the desert. There's wifi everywhere so you'll be able to keep up to date on everything internet related.
Food:
Hotel booking includes buffet breakfast. Really good spread including fresh fruits and produce from the trees in the hotel. They even Cook fresh eggs for you, perfect fried eggs. You can also have dinner if you like to.
Location:
The hotel is about 3kms from the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. Alex runs a free shuttle service to and from town so it's super easy to get there and back and nice to be away from the noise...
Read moreLocation|About 5k outside the town. They operate a free shuttle service about 5 times a day. We used it several times. The hotel will arrange a taxi outside shuttle times. Cost of taxi is 4000 pesos. |Overall I thought it was a positive to be outside the town - more peaceful. ||Service |We had 3 front of house staff during our 4 night stay. Thandi was exceptional. I would rate this hotel 5 star based on her alone. Nothing was too much trouble for her. ||Communication with the hotel were via What’sApp. This worked really well ||Rooms|We were in a Delux room. Loved the decor. Private sitting out area in the shade.||Amenities|The hotel had a pool. The water was very very cold - due to the night time desert temperatures. Pool area is nice||Ambience|This hotel reminded me of a South African game lodge. The staff uniform, the rooms, the layout. I really liked it. The outdoor fireplace for after dinner drinks. ||Food|The hotel offers a set dinner for 15,000 pesos. It included a salad starter, a choice of 4 mains & a choice of 2 desserts. We eat in 3 nights out of 4. It was good value. The salad starter was excellent. The mains were also very good. The desserts were a little disappointing- I found them too sweet, but that might appeal to someone else. |Excellent small wine list that was also value ||Overall|I would return in a heartbeat. My highs were Thandi, the salad starter with dinner & the outdoor fire/boma. ||The hotel has only 7 rooms. The concept is...
