From the moment we arrived we felt at home here. Eduardo and Gabriela, the owners and our hosts, could not have been more welcoming. Within minutes of arriving Gabriela sent me WhatsApp message with a list of food available for breakfast and asking for our preferences. She also sent an extensive list of restaurants and the contact details for a reliable taxi driver. We had arrived mid afternoon and had missed lunch so Eduardo recommended a restaurant in town. It was only about a 20 minute walk from the hotel but he insisted on driving us there. |Whenever we wanted to make restaurant reservations or to call the taxi driver (who didn't speak English) either Eduardo or Gabriela would do it for us. They were so caring and solicitous but never intrusive. By the time we left we felt as though we had made new friends and we were genuinely sorry to leave them.|As for the actual accommodation it was, I think, a fairly typical Chilean-style home, with a large garden and a refreshing pool to cool off in. It was quiet and peaceful and the perfect place to escape to for some rest and relaxation. Eduardo does a lot of work in the garden and they keep chickens, ducks and a couple of turkeys, all free range (they somehow know the extent of their own area and even put themselves to bed in the coop at night). The breakfast eggs were as fresh as it's possible to be!|The room was large as was the bathroom. We had 2 double beds with good quality bed linen, which were wonderfully comfortable and we slept really well. In short, there is no doubt that if we return to Santa Cruz, or anywhere nearby, we will choose to stay at Hotel Quinta Maria. Thank you Eduardo and Gabriela for a...
Read moreJuan Eduardo and Gabriella, provide friendly, relaxed, and very helpful service in their traditional family Quinta, beautifully rebuilt after the 2010 earthquake, around the mature courtyard garden. There is a nice pool and beyond that extensive grounds with interesting assortment of old fruit trees.||The rooms are large, comfortable and stylish just as they appear on the website, with good bathrooms, and there is a large comfortable sitting room/library with a fascinating collection of old books and memorabilia from the family. ||Breakfast in the large original kitchen is exceptional. Fresh homemade juice, fruit, jam, ham, salami, cheese, fresh bread/toast basket, delicious local tomatoes and good coffee. The eggs are cooked to order fresh from their own hens just outside.. Very special. ||Juan Eduardo provides comprehensive local information, knows all the best places to visit, and will organize anything you want him to. He arranged a rental car for us which was cheap, delivered to the hotel and brand new! We had a great time exploring the valley. He picked us up from the cruise terminal in San Antonio personally to make sure we were OK and arranged our transfer back to the airport in Santiago. Nothing is too much trouble for him.||Do not be put off by the front of the property being on the road. Once you are inside it is very private and quiet. You would not know that it was on the road. Actually it makes it very convenient to walk into town with shops, restaurants and a superb museum, all 15 to 20 minutes away. ||The hotel Quinta Maria is lovely place and the proprietors are lovely people.||It was the perfect place for us to stay in the...
Read moreMy wife and I discovered Hotel Boutique Quinta Maria when planning a visit to wineries in the Colchagua Valley. We often choose smaller Inns and ones that are located in or near town centers. The hotel is owned and run by Gabriela Wurth and her husband, Eduardo, plus her assistant Rosita. All are involved in the running of the hotel that feels more like a warm family hacienda than a hotel/motel. Visiting from the USA with limited Spanish language skills, we appreciated Gabriella’s and her husband’s understandable English language skills. Other hotel team members were not very knowledgable of English so my wife and I made use of iPhone translation applications.
Hotel amenities included good quality Wi-Fi, a nice swimming pool (not heated), shaded pool and garden decks, a library with Spanish and English books plus a TV, and gated access to the hotel and parking. (The photos on the hotel website are an accurate representation). Living up to the acronym, “B&B,” our breakfasts including freshly gather eggs and local juiced fruit. Plus bedrooms have comfortable beds and pillows. Our only misinterpretation regarding the hotel was the walk to the Santa Cruz city center. It is a 1.2km “sunny” walk to the town center where the Colchagua museum and most restaurants are located. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again if we...
