Although at the beginning the relation with this hotel, didn’t start well, at the end we can say that it worth it. I don’t think it’s appropriate to tell the details of the inconvenient, considering that it was solved promptly.|My wife and I for many years wanted to attend de Wine Festival “Fiesta de la Vendimia de Colchagua”, in Santa Cruz, and that is actually one of the best in Chile.|After the pandemia, people that like to travel are thirsty to do what we couldn’t for a long time.|Although we tried to arrive early to the hotel, it was not possible, work didn’t let us.|We arrive approximately 11:30 PM and we were deeply impressed of the decoration of the access hall, very nice with beautiful antique furnitures. A very kind woman check us in and lead us to our room, we slept on the Merlot Suite (all suites are named under wine varieties), the room was very comfortable with a lot of space, decorated with old wooden furnitures very cozy, but with a lack of windows, the only one we had was inside the bathroom, although for us wasn’t a issue at all since we don’t have to worry about black out curtains, just keep the bathroom door closed to have a very dark room, that fortunately had A/C.|The next day we had to put the alarm in order to be able to have breakfast,-it is only served until 9:30-, a little early considering that is weekend and some people likes to sleep a little longer. Beside that is a very good breakfast, with plenty of options. The only thing they didn’t have was a lactose free skim milk, but they served a very good French Press coffee.|The hotel is about 4 to 5 blocks away the center of the town, we’re the “Vendimia” takes place, so is totally at a walking distance, and perfect, considering that you don’t need to drive back to the hotel, just consider that if you buy more wines that you can handle, those blocks will feel longer.|On Sunday we had to make the check out as expected, I asked for an 1 hour extension for checking out at 1:00 PM, that was going to be charged at CLP$ 10.000 an hour. We just wanted to rest a little more, due to the early breakfast and also that we drink a little more that usual the day before, first at the “Vendimia” and then at the Santa Cruz Casino that is on the way to the hotel. |Fortunately for us, it turned to be very good stay, we highly recommend the hotel if you want something more intimate and cozy, and that makes you feel that you’ve travel back in time.|The hotel has free parking in a property that it’s just across the street. They let us leave the car there at no charge after check out, so we went to taste and get some more...
Read moreI struggled to put my finger on why I was so aggrieved by my stay at this venue. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean, what’s not to love, right?
In short, this venue would make a perfectly good cheap and cheerful home stay on AirBnB but it is absolutely not a boutique hotel. Which is what it is marketed as.
We chose it due to the very high ratings on various sites. It looked a little quirky, but with good ratings it should be fun, right?
First impressions are of a slightly cluttered Manor House. However, on closer inspection it’s the indiscriminate contents of a yard sale which has been dumped into too little space.
Our room was one flight of stairs up. No lift and no porter. So definitely not a boutique hotel.
The hotel amenities were also poor. The soap dispensers in the shower were that horrible antiseptic foam stuff which you get in airports.
The bedrooms all lead off the central room and the walls are thin, so one ends up with any single social group staying up and having a chat disturbing everyone else. We had to ask the very nice Brazilian team who were also staying to please move somewhere else as we weren’t able to sleep.
The location is basically in a light industrial area.
Oh, and the lingering concern of carbon monoxide poisoning and the chemical smell from the leaking anthracite burner didn’t help.
This place should be in the USD 30 to 60 per night zone but we were charged USD 130 per night.
I felt we had been grossly mis-sold the quality and the experience on offer. Maybe you will feel differently, however, we would only recommend trying this venue out if you get a...
Read moreThis lovely family-run hacienda/villa has been lovingly expanded and restored to accommodate guests in a traditional setting with all the modern amenities (mini-fridge, a/c, etc.). During your stay, you can relax in your beautifully-appointed room, lounge by the tranquil pool, or spend time on one of the terraces or patios on the grounds. We enjoyed star-gazing from the upper terrace at night! Fruit trees abound, so you can grab a fresh snack when you want. Mauricio and his wife enjoy sharing their home with guests, showing off the architecture of the building, their art and Pre-Colombian artifacts, and-best of all- their cooking skills! We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast spread, including fresh fruits from the grounds of the hacienda, eggs, homemade breads, and the delicious homemade marmelade. We even bought a jar of the marmelade to take back to Santiago with us, along with a bottle of Carmenere produced by the family as well. We highly recommend Hotel Boutique Vendimia for your next stay to the Colchagua Valley!...
