We are a couple from Canada and stayed here for 3 nights in June. It is one of those disappointing backpacker stories that we laugh about today. We wouldn't stay here again and we would not recommend this place to our family and friends.||||This is not a hostel: it is a B&B with a not-so-great breakfast and uncomfortable beds. There is no reception, no information or maps for tourists, our room was accessed and cleaned while we were out, and there was no comfortable space where travellers would stay and chat. Heads up to backpackers: Temuco itself is not a tourist town, so you should only stay here if you are passing by.||||We only saw Tante Silvia when we checked in and when we checked out. She spoke no English. We had to give this place 2 stars based on the fact that we were international travellers and she was not ready to receive foreign guests: We were there for Copa America, but it was like she didn't even know it was going on. There were no maps or help in terms of what to do/see in town, we were not greeted warmly when we got in (it was actually quite awkward), she did not respond to our emails, and it was a headache to organize our way to the airport when we left.||||We asked if they could call us a shuttle and the woman who cleaned the rooms basically pointed to where the phone was. When I asked if she could call it for us, she dialed the number and then handed me the phone and walked away. Eventually Silvia called a relative of hers who found us a ride to the airport - it wasn't a cab, we are pretty sure it was just a friend of hers, but we paid 18,000 CHP.||||Be careful booking: "Double bed" means bunk bed, not a double bed as we know it in North America. We did not know this and stayed in a cramped room with a bunk bed for the first night. If you are traveling with a friend, be prepared to be in each others' faces the whole time and not have anywhere to put your bags. Silvia was kind enough to transfer us to a bigger room for the next 2 nights which had a double bed, a shared kitchen, a fridge, and considerably more space. This made a world of a difference, and we definitely recommend booking this room if you are travelling as a couple.||||Warning: You cannot actually sit on the toilet with your legs in front of you because there is no room. We basically sat on the toilet sideways. The rooms are all cramped, so just be prepared.||||WiFi had a low, weak signal. Not reliable.||||Rooms with TV and cable.||||We re-cleaned the cups and dishes that we used because they were still dirty. Even when the rooms were cleaned while we were away, the sink was still left dirty and unwiped. Also be careful with your things: there is no safe in the room, but the room gets accessed for cleaning while you are away.||||Breakfast was nothing exciting and we didn't really eat much of it: plain, dry bread with jam that "leaves much to the imagination", juice, coffee, tea, and some sort of spreadable cheese that comes out of a bag (?)||||Each room has a heater that is basically a propane gas tank that you use like a barbecue to light a flame. The smell of gasoline got us sick, and we could still taste it in the back of our throats for days afterwards. Not safe to have it on all night, but you wouldn't be able to bear the smell anyways.||||From the Temuco airport, we took a shuttle or a "transfer" to the place, but be careful: the front of the hostel says "Hospedaje Pensione" and not "Hostale...
