The lady that takes care of the property on behalf of the owner is very friendly and helpful with information. ||||Up to three rooms (5 persons) share a bathroom, but there is another unit on the first floor that has it’s own bathroom. In the shared bathroom, it could be a bit tight for 5 people to use. The layout is a long bathroom that connects two of the rooms to the room with a queen bed. The bathroom itself is a bit run down, with moldy corners and peeling paint, but the water pressure is good. There’s a sign limiting you to shower no more than 5 minutes, and telling you to throw all toilet paper in a bin, and not in the toilet. There is a bathtub with aluminum-framed sliding shower door surrounding the tub, like your grandma’s house, built in the 1950’s might have.||||The room was orderly, but it could be cleaner. There are dust bunnies in floor corners, and there seemed to be an ant issue, especially in the bathroom. They tried to deal with them, but the ants came back. We also had some ants on the floor of our room around the bathroom entrance.||||Our bed was comfortable, but the room was a bit stuffy even with the windows open. There is a fan to help air circulation, but we didn't see any heater in the event of cold.||||Wifi functioned well and breakfast included better breads than we’ve had elsewhere in Chile (more like brötchen typical in German breakfasts), but to say it is the best breakfast in all of Chile is an exaggeration. Coffee is Nescafe powder and the water tastes of the years of hard water build-up in the thermos. There is muesli, yoghurt, marmalade, some fresh fruit, cakes, sliced ham, and cheese as well, but all average.||||At your disposal is also a patio and kitchen that is orderly and well maintained, but it could be cleaner as well, especially the refrigerator. The germaphobe will have issues.||||Location wise, it is only a few blocks away from the main plaza. You can hear the noise from there, but this doesn't go on through the night. While it is generally quiet, there is a rooster nearby that starts crowing way before dawn and stirs up sleeping dogs, which may disturb...
Read moreThis place is really like a house, completly independant from the owner's place located just bellow. We have been lucky to be alone the first day and enjoy the lovely terrace with the great view on the mountains or having rest around the pool on the lovely garden.||However, the second day, there were some other nice guests. The only good tips is to avoid the matrimonial bedroom as one of the door are commun with the bathroom and you can hear everything!! Everything!!||There are two others bedrooms with singles beds which are probably better. ||Rita who run the place is charming, lovely and give you tips.||However we've been quite suprised that internet is charged! That the kind of surprise I don't really like as no one mentionned it when we arrived. As it was someone else that Rita who welcomed us let's say that could happen. However that's the first time since I'm travelling that you have to pay if I use a computer located in the living room, free of access. Wi fii is free. Beside this little unpleasant thing, everything is nice. The Kitchen is really well equiped as. The breakfast are so big that you can prepare...
Read moreTia Rita and her dog Blancita are absolutely lovely. Hostel Donde Rita doesn't have a hostel character at all, rather the opposite. It feels like being at home and has got a cosy and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are all in her own house, partly with shared bathroom which wasn't a problem for us at all as the bathroom is very spacious. Part of the garden is also a pool where you can chill after a day out and about. A German breakfast is served in the living room. We were trying to organize accommodation for our stay in La Caldera but were struggling. So Rita made a couple of telephone calls and we were sorted. If you are a light sleeper and have got loud next door neighbours you might find it a bit noisy if you are accommodated in adjacent rooms. However there are also rooms downstairs or facing the balcony...
