I stayed at this hotel on a layover in Beijing when returning back to London from Hong Kong. I deliberately chose a long layover so I could pop out for a very quick visit of Beijing. |Firstly the hotel is fairly near the Capital International Airport so it's not close to the city. I arrived at the hotel around 7pm and I wanted to pop out to Sanlitun. The hotel suggested taking a taxi as it's not very close to the metro station and it would take around an hour with line changes. I managed to order a taxi quite quickly and it took around 45 minutes. It cost around 80 RMB. |The next morning I booked to go visit the Forbidden City. I left after 9am and got there around 10am. |The rooms in the hotel are spacious and large. I wasn't expecting much, but as far as Chinese hotels go this was pretty good and looked fairly Western. The water from the shower spills out onto the bathroom floor so that wasn't great, and also the toilet got blocked. I don't think it can handle toilet tissue. |As far as the included breakfast goes, it's pretty much Chinese style. Not much Western options. There was porridge and noodles and dumplings and some steamed dim sum. If you don't mind this then the food was pretty good. |The hotel can arrange the airport transfer for you, however as I was going out to the city I decided not to return to the hotel, I was going to catch a taxi straight to the airport. |I wouldn't choose to stay here if I was going to stay longer in Beijing, but for a layover it was fine. However as a free transit hotel with Air China I was...
Read moreThe only reason we booked this hotel was because it was advertised close to the airport which we needed an overnight stay for the next morning flight. The promise of the airport pick up would not happen if we didn't chase them up phone call after phone call, instead of meeting us at the arrival section as they promised, we ended up had to go to the departure gate standing in the cold waiting, and looking for the car with their number plate through the nonstop oncoming traffic. The small vehicle was jammed with about a dozen people, all the big luggage had to be squeezed in the already tiny aisle. One passenger complained that he had been waiting in the cold for an hour. The vehicle rushed off to avoid the police fine for stopping at wrong spot. The hotel reception was rude, we requested to be on higher floor in the booking, but was given the lowest floor. It was advertised as a non-smoking hotel, however we could smell the smoke the moment stepping out the lift, we told the staff that the strong smell of the smoke coming direct from the room across from the small hallway, and we were told there is nothing they could do. The room was small, old and dirty, the bed is hard as wood, a pillowcase has a hole right in the middle. We were back onto the small bus which took half an hour to the airport early next morning with no traffic issue due to the fact that they did a D tour to pick up one of their staff before dropping off the passengers, so...
Read moreBooked here for work purpose and not from the airport transit. Location is good for the purpose of my working trip. Near from the airport and near to my work venue. Can't expect a 5-Star customer service from the front desk as they are borderline rude, probably overworked from the constant airport transfer stays. Rooms are nice, modern and updated. Only big complaint is there is no air-conditioning provided in the entire hotel building during this late April weather. My room has a window with a very small opening to the building's void area hence there is no air ventilation at all. The room can be very stuffy and warm. When I called the front desk about the air-conditioning in my room is not working, they sent the housekeeper and brought a unit of a fan that had seen better days. Probably they took it from their office. From the second call to the front desk, I learnt that the weather is still "cool" and no air conditioning is provided. My room is constantly at 28-29 degrees celcius with no air ventilation. I've asked for a room change to have a window so I can have proper ventilation and they assured me the hotel is fully booked and so does all the hotels in the near vicinity without checking. I guess it's just their way to turn down requests by over...
