This is a nice, standard 4 star hotel with great convenience to the PEK capital airport. It feels like maybe 20 years ago this was something special and cutting edge but these days it feels a little out of the 90’s and that the management now is just maintaining the status quo. If you are looking for true luxury I would go for the Cordis Hotel or Crowne Plaza near PEK airport. But this is a good option if you have a quick layover and want something dependable and $30 USD cheaper than those other brands. -Food 🥘 Breakfast was good and diverse (felt a little more Chinese than western) but definitely did not have that WOW 🤩 factor when you walked in. Restaurant atmosphere feels like a Chinese Sichuan restaurant with some breakfast options. They have an egg station, noodle station, good coffee ☕️, and many fried Chinese dishes. -Location 📍 Location is classic industrial airport area. Not too much around as far as restaurants or nightlife. There is a McDonald’s across the street. But I suspect most people book this because it is a 10 minute ride to PEK airport (which is also why I stayed there). It is about a 20 minute taxi ride into Lido in Beijing and 798 art 🖼️ district down the highway so if you are willing to travel some cool areas of Beijing 4th ring road are relatively close. -Transportation 🚙 They do provide a free shuttle but you will need to call ahead of time to arrange it as I am not sure it runs on a regular basis (perhaps an indication of the fewer amount of guests compared to the Hilton which has a shuttle every 20 minutes). I waited about 45 minutes after my flight ✈️ to get the shuttle and they promised to come at 12:30pm over the phone but that shuttle never came. So they dropped the ball there. -Staff 🧍 Front desk staff is capable but will not blow you away with hospitality. Their English is about as mediocre as their passion. It feels like the whole hotel has an attitude of maintaining what was rather than improving what is. Overall - expect a good stay, a nice comfy bed 🛌, and great proximity to...
Read moreThis hotel mainly focusses on guests staying just for a night or two on their way to or from the airport. They don’t give much attention to the fact that some guests might stay longer. This became evident when we decided to stay on in Beijing an additional two nights. I asked for the room to be serviced properly “just like for a new guest”. I got new towels, the bed was straightened and the bins cleaned…that’s it. Cups and glasses left dirty, no coffee or tea topped up - nothing. I washed the cups etc myself then went downstairs to ask whether this is how they leave rooms for new guests. Asked if they could at least send up coffee and tea. I waited 45 minutes and then decided to go have a nap. I was awoken half an hour later by reception phoning to ask “Is the room clean now?” I said no, but just leave it as I am sleeping now and to just send coffee and tea…I am still waiting. The next day the room was cleaned in the same way and still no coffee and tea top up. But the water gets topped up every day whether you need it or not! So bottom line: Good for a night on your way to or from the airport, but...
Read moreWe moved to the Ramada from another hotel in the city in order to catch our very early morning flight. We took advantage of the complimentary airport pickup & drop-off service to have the hotel pick us up from the airport to the hotel on arrival. The front desk was very friendly. Check-in was efficient. Upon seeing our kids, 小彤at the front desk upgraded us to a larger room and provided us kids slippers and extra toiletries. We needed to get to the airport very early the next morning, and 小彤 helped us choose an appropriate drop-off time. The drivers were quite friendly. The hotel is on the older city, but that doesn’t deter from the amenities. Our room was very large. The A/C was fully functional, which was nice because Beijing was quite hot the days that we were there. Coming in from a smaller hotel in the centre of the city, the strong water pressure in our room at the Ramada was a welcomed comfort after a long day touring the city. They also have a delivery robot that was quite cute and entertained the kids.Over...
