Airport arrival gate "meet and greet" and chauffeured Audi service to hotel a very nice way to get our 6-day stay off to a great start! Checkin efficient, welcoming and friendly; we were delighted w/Platinum upgrade to renewal suite - gorgeous! Flawless housekeeping morning and evening! Executive lounge well appointed with delicious and varied offerings both at breakfast and "happy hour" ... we often did not want to leave! Fitness center and pool were excellent in every respect, as well as all other facilities. Location of this hotel is very nice, with easy walking access to two subway stations (two separate lines). MOST impressive - among the numerous aspects of Westin Beijing Financial Street which we admired and so enjoyed - were the members of the hotel team (front desk, concierge, doormen/bell staff, housekeeping, Executive Lounge) ... always friendly, professional, and ready to advise or assist. Those who impressed us are truly too numerous to name, but here are the ones who absolutely went above and beyond: Wu S of the evening housekeeping team, who invariably and innovatively used his smartphone to translate into English the question he wished to ask us; the Executive Lounge team led by the hugely professional Kevin L and Iris, to include Lydia and Brook S (who insisted on seeing us off and help with our luggage when it was time to leave), and Eric W (a magnificent chef for whom any request was met with a smile and can-do attitude) - this entire team is EXCEPTIONAL and made us feel both comfortable and pampered. And then the young management trainee, Talal - what a bright, professional, loyal and guest-focused future hotel...
Read moreI stayed 3 nights at this hotel, part of a group china tour. The hotel is located in the business district so there isn't much going on in the area. There is a mall across the street. Unfortunately it is a high end mall so lots of high end expensive stores. Luckily in the basement level is a grocery store so you can purchase necessities for a reasonable price. You can even purchase meals and foodstuffs and alcohol. There are some eateries near the hotel. ||There is a nice exercise room in the hotel but unfortunately it was inundated with kids running around so I felt it too dangerous to use the exercise equipment. There is also a nice big pool but also had a lot of kids running around. The hotel probably needs to have someone in the pool/exercise room area to make sure that kids don't run rampant and the facilities are used properly and safely. ||We had the buffet breakfast included in our package. Unfortunately on 2 days there was no omelet chef available when the buffet opened so we were stuck with whatever was available for over a half an hour. The elderly omelet chef was available but he was too busy trying to set everything up and when he was near the omelet bar he was gruff and too busy to help customers for half an hour. On the other day of my stay that chef was off so the younger chefs were available when the buffet opened and they were very helpful making omelets for everyone. I would recommend the hotel get rid of the elderly omelet chef, he really made the meal unpleasant. ||Overall the hotel was nice and most of the staff were helpful and friendly. Just too bad that one bad chef made...
Read moreLovely room and location! But it has been so frustrating to deal with front desk teams around breastmilk logistics, it’s as if no one on the team is a mum themselves? Multiple ppl could not understand that I need 1) a freezer, 2) help to move the freezer when I check out to another electric outlet before I leave for airport and 3) that every other Marriott in my travels around the world has helped to procure a UV sterilizer to wash my breast pumping kits. They refused on 3) even tho it doesn’t cost much to procure one.
Then there was the issue around food delivery during key events where hotel security is heightened. Multiple times the drivers were confused whether to drop off to side door, to self serve locker by executive apartment, or to pass to a staff to bring up to room. And each time I would go on a goose hunt to try to find who has my food, and usually arrives cold after 30min of searching around.
Pool water isn’t heated despite swimming when it’s reasonably chilly out in the morning.
Despite prompt responses on emails and Marriott app msgs, it has been an otherwise very stressful stay with not much understanding of a travelling mum’s needs. Disappointing!
With that said, Grace has been absolutely amazing, she’s the only one who seems to understand what I need, and even stayed well past her shift to help me retrieve my milk to shove into my storage milk. She has been...
