I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in April 2007. It seems a bit strange that the reception is not on the ground floor as would be expected but on the 27th floor. However, for the price we paid (US$90|per night incl breakfast) we were very impressed with the hotel. We had Business Suites which were large and spacious with every creature|comfort included. The rooms and public areas were very clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. The beds were American King size and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a mixture of European and Chinese food and they seem to do a very good evening meal although we ate out every evening.||There is a bar on the ground floor level which lacks atmosphere and is very quiet but there are some good bars nearby. There is a KTV (Karaoke TV) bar on the 4th floor but as all visitors to China will know, KTV is more than a regular bar and expect to pay large amounts of money to have a drink in the company of pretty girls. I would recommend staying far clear of these bars which are everywhere.||Fishermans Wharf restaurant is next door to the hotel and is excellent for seafood and lots of other dishes and has a great ambiance. There are lots of other small restaurants within a 20 minute walk of the hotel if you explore the local streets. ||I would have no hesitation recommending this hotel in Dalian and would stay...
Read moreArrived in Dalian at around 2000. Near the luggage collection conveyor is a booth for transport. It is in the restricted area and the person asked if we wanted a taxi. I thought this was an official taxi service where they would hail a cab due to its location. The booth operator asked where I wanted to go and then on a map circled where the airport is and a distance a long way away. In Chinese so I couldn't read it anyway. Was told the fare was 200RMB about $40. It was cold and I had had a long flight so with my business partner we decided to get the taxi. Went outside and no it wasn't TAXI but an old heap of crap van. Money had already been taken on the inside of the airport so there is no way I could have gotten it back because you can't re enter. The 30minute ride was only 10 minutes and that was with the driver going slow to chew up time. Total rip off so don't get the taxi near the luggage belt. Go outside and get one of the numerous licensed taxi's that are lined up. At the hotel we were told it should have cost approximately 30RMB. The driver was laughing all the way to the bank. with his 200RMB he could have bought a better vehicle. On the positive note, the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was nice and very affordable with a good bed. I would definitely use the hotel again but not the fake...
Read moreOne night Stay at this hotel for a short business travel. So I may not have enough comments for this hotel.||Distance from airport to the hotel is not so far. It's about 30mins' drive (My flight arrived at about 9:30pm, no traffic jam at that time) and took about 40RMB if my remember is correct. The hotel is near the harbor and I can view portion of the harbor from my room. The checkin frondesk does not locate at the first floor but 27th floor. Frontdesk is not so passional maybe it's late at night. Room is ok. Clean but little bit worn. Room size is big enough. Breakfast is ok at the top floor. BTW there are many good chinese restaurants nearby. I had my Cantonese style late night snack after my checkin at a chinese restaurant just 5mins' walk from the hotel.||That's all my comments during my...
