This is not a 4-star hotel by any means, but it is in a good location near many businesses and restaurants. For 720 RMB per night plus a VAT tax, the room is a little pricey for what you get.||||What you get for that price is a room that is set up like a small apartment, with 2 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, and a living room/dining room/kitchenette/laundry room combination, two good-sized closets and an armoire.||||The amenities (dishware, cookware, utinsels, silverware, etc.) were clean and in good supply. There is a good sized refridgerator/freezer, sink, stove, microwave, and clothes washer. All were in good condition, but the counter had several large cracks around the stove.||||There is wear and small damage on many things around my room in addition to the aforementioned cracks in the counter. Carpet stains, pulled threads in the berber carpet, wallpaper loose at the seams and edges, noisy bathroom fan, frayed rolling window shade next to the bathtub, water damage to the mirror frame in the bathroom, etc. But nothing terribly broken or in bad condition. AC and room temperature were fine for the early June weather. The take-away words here are functional, convenient, and clean.||||Reception staff spoke english and was very friendly. However, I arrived on the weekend and had to use the entrance around the side of the building. A little confusing for both myself and the taxi driver, but the good news is I found a CITC bank and ATM on the other side of the building. Reception is on the 17th floor, so yoy need to take an elevator ride to get there.||||I will stay about 6 nights, so should be able to get a better feel for the hotel in that time. First impressions are that it is acceptable, but a little too much money for what you get when the VAT...
Read moreThis is a place not worthy of being called a SOMERSET aparthotel . The furnishings are a wreck , all the cupboards are decades old , smell musty and dusty. The carpet and sofa were the only things that maybe are one or two years old. The toilet was dim , cold and vanity and cabinets also were old and falling apart and gave off a horrid smell! the services and facilities offered also was terrible! in the cupboard was a chopper , two teaspoon two sets of chopsticks , two mugs and two glasses in a two bedroom apartment meant for 4 people , The housekeeping staff were not friendly when asked for services. they never even cleaned the carpet properly or cleared the sink ! ||the layout was also so terrible, the guest bedroom had no space and nothing in it ||||The breakfast was horrible , don’t pay for it ! They offered such terrible food yet called it a buffet ?! ||||Being a frequent traveler, having been to multiple Ascot , Somerset and ||Citadines properties throughout the world , this is the WORST EVER SOMERSET I HAVE BEEN TO! Don’t book nor stay here - you’ll regret it . ||Btw I met the manager when I was leaving and her excuse for this terrible wreck of a place was - 80% of the tenants are long stay and the hotel is decades old .. my response so what .. ? Then don’t charge us the somerset price level .. NEVER STAY HERE! Till they...
Read moreMany of the recent reviews are accurate. The hotel is acceptable, but it's seen better days and is need of refurbishment. Level of cleanliness is not especially high, with dusty surfaces and hair and food refuse on the carpet. Wifi signal is strong enough but drops out frequently. Gym equipment is dated and felt unreliable in use. When I booked, room description noted the inclusion of a window. It wasn't until I checked-in that I discovered the deception: these were clerestory windows, set up near the roof line to let in light and air and not for viewing. Very quiet and good sleep. Had little interaction with staff apart from check-in/check-out, but they were friendly and helpful. Decent location with plenty of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Convenient access to airport via one subway line. Might stay here again, but likely to...
