We stayed for 7 nights with our four children over New Year, so we booked two rooms (each room had two double beds - kids had to share). Great modern bathroom with heated floors and a heated toilet seat. The children particularly liked the butt washing/drying functions!! The hotel couldn't offer interconnecting rooms, but we were only a few rooms apart on the 15th floor. We were on opposite sides of the building, so it was fun to see both views! Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and there was always someone who could speak a basic level of English. ||||Breakfast was included in our rate and was a mixture of Chinese and Western. The adults enjoyed the egg station and the kids loved the bakery items. There was also a soft serve ice-cream machine that we let the kids use on the last morning - yes, ice cream for breakfast! We actually never saw anyone else use it! It was never busy and we were always the only westerners. Actually, in our entire week in Dalian, we only saw six other westerners in the entire city. Clearly winter is not the season for western tourists!||||Location was excellent. Right across the road from the Dalian Railway Station and Victory Plaza. This is a huge underground maze of markets that were a nice reprieve from the -0 temperatures of the Dalian winter. Many local restaurants, fast food outlets and convenience stores are right on the hotels door step. Took us about 10 minutes to walk to the Russian Street. There is also the Ayana Massage & Spa Salon connected to the hotel. We went as a family and all had massages (maybe learn the Chinese words for harder or softer before you go).||||There is a self-service laundry (and a laundry service you can pay for) which was a huge bonus when you're staying for a week with four children. The lovely guy at reception met me up at the laundry on the 21st floor to translate the machine buttons for me. About an hour to wash and an hour for drying. Machines are free to use, just BYO detergent. ||||Everywhere felt very safe and I would certainly recommend the hotel. My only complaint would be the occasional smell of smoke, even though there were signs posted everywhere about smoking not being permitted. I think the Chinese think these signs are merely a suggestion! Also, we ended up turning off our room thermostat as it was too hot and any adjusting didn't seem to make a difference (even when switched to cold). Otherwise, a very...
Read moreDue to my business nearby area and overall location is nice - near train station and market, I normally was staying in Ramada Plaza and was quite satisfied with everything. This time, as usually, I returned to the hotel and found out that it is Grand Continent now. Surprise surprise! Actually quite ridiculous, they just paste the stickers with ugly GC logo everywhere on top of every Ramada logo - toiletries, phone, even slippers! So strange...||They gave me a suite - a bit dirty and smelly, the bathroom is very small - cannot put my stuff near the tub as no space. And a dead cockroach on the floor was accompanying me :( ||The breakfast became much worse either - rare variety, some food is not fresh..||Incredibly, how obvious change is in this hotel after Ramada took away the franchise.. It is a pity for me, because before the the hotel was just a right place for me due its location and services, but now seems I need to find another...
Read moreStayed 2 nights here at this place. Really fantastic location with all sorts of public transport available. The airport is 40min.-45min. away.||A few malls around for shopping, if that is your thing. ||The hotel itself appears old but it is well kept and wanting noting for a hotel at this price. The breakfast was nice with a wide selection which can satisfy most people. The staff are really helpful and friendly.||While I have no real complaints, the only thing which will make me look at another hotel in this area is, there are too many hotels in this area. It may be worthwhile to browse around and find...
