Kande International Hotel, Dongguan — Hotel in Dongguan

I booked the themed room for New Year eve, that came with a complementary soft toy and fruit basket with the choice of aroma essential oils and types of pillows to choose for a memorable stay. I was even provided the service of a professional butler, who will attend to my needs during the stay. I get to have breakfast at the 39th floor for a spectacular view of Dongguan, while being served with one's choice of order. There was a slight hiccup when the person in charge, after taking my order, came to me in a few minutes to ask me to pay addition for the breakfast at 39th floor but later she apologized that there was some miscommunication between her and reception. I told her it might have been awkward and embarrassing situation for me as I was caught off guard that I have to pay more. it should be clarified before admitting the hotel patron into the restaurant. Apparently any 30th floor below patron has to pay addition if one wants to eat at the 39th floor. Anyway the room I booked was 31st floor, so the case was resolved. I had high expectations for my stay at the Kande International Hotel. The entrance is grand and somewhat spectacular, albeit aged and fading.|Check in was efficient and without trouble.||I proceeded to my room and entered a large spacious suite. My room was on a high floor with excellent views of the city. The furnishings and carpet were well worn and not clean. My room needed a renovation and a deep cleaning due to the faded scent of cigarette smoke.||I went to the restaurant floor only to discover that smoking was permitted in that area. I left and rode down in an elevator that someone had just smoked in. Needless to say smoking is quite common and popular in this property as it is also popular throughout China. Some hotels prohibit all smoking on their property. I now stay at one of those hotels when I’m in Dongguan.||My rating of three stars is primarily due to the friendliness of the housekeeping staff and the doormen, especially Mohan. If not for these friendly encounters I would probably rate the Kande International...

We loved this hotel for its service and location - right in the centre next to several shopping malls, a supermarket, food streets - so convenient. Our room seemed on the smaller side though likely because we booked a room with two double beds. It came with an exceptional view outside too and the bathroom was beautiful. My only issue was that we were supposedly staying in a non smoking floor. However, on our first night, we had a strong smell of cigarettes entering our room. It was so bad that it felt as though someone was actually smoking in our room so we didn’t get to sleep much on our first night. With a newborn and toddler, this was certainly not ideal. The smell was still there in the morning but was less strong by the following evening. We tried to request a room change but were told that they weee unfortunately fully booked.
