I really enjoyed my stay in the Dong Rong Business Hotel. The room is huge with high ceilings, a large window, a comfortable king sized bed, a desk and chairs, and a chaise lounge. The bathroom is impressive as well. The lobby is modern with a sitting area and a self-playing piano. A breakfast buffet is included, featuring mostly Chinese dishes but with some western friendly items as well. There is a convenience store located right next to the hotel.
I have to give 4 stars for a few reasons (edited to 5 stars). Reception was slow, and when I finally did check in I couldn't read my room number. I eventually needed help finding the room, which was embarrasing. When checking out the receptionist complimented my smile which made me feel fuzzy inside.
I booked in advance after finding a sweet deal in which I should have only paid $55 per night. I didn't prepay, and this deal was not honored when I checked in, so I ended up paying the full price ($80 per night). Perhaps this was my fault. UPDATE after checkout: I misunderstood the system. You make a 500 rmb/night deposit upon arrival. When checking out, if your room isn't trashed, she cancels that transaction and bills you for the correct amount. For $55 a night this room was a bargain!
The location isn't great. This hotel is located on a side street far from central Dongguan and from the Line 2 metro. It's about a 15 minute walk to Line 2 and a 20 minute walk to the downtown area. Perhaps when the new metro lines open there will be a more convenient station nearby.
As I also learned, the nearest fast food place on Google maps doesn't exist anymore, meaning you have to walk at least 20 minutes for McNuggets or any other fast food. The upside of this is that you get to walk through the central plaza area frequently, which is pretty at night.
Oh yeah. As a final note, the outside of the building looks like a prison. Don't let that fool you though, it's...

There are instructions but they are in Chinese only.||The price is good, the rooms are clean and very comfortable. I...
