After reviewing several choices vendor suggested for staying nite in Sanshui, I chose Garden based on previous reviews.||Rate was very good- total cost including buffet breakfast was about US$50.00||Checked in early evening. Checked out the buffet dinner which I believe was less than 100RMB, which is great rate considering other hotels in Guangdong charge 150-200 for dinner buffet.||Skipped dinner and ate outside resturaunt near hotel for typical Cantonese noodles.||Room was large, clean. Bathroom also clean & spacious. Medium to strong water pressure. Lots of hot water. Bed was king-size, super firm.||Room included desk for wire internet. However, not enough plugs for all the electronics one carries on business trip. Had to ask for power strip to plug in my laptop, phone chargers.||If you want wireless internet you need to ring front desk and give 200RMB deposit which is deposited at checkout. I called front desk to get the wireless adapter ( one more thing to plug into power strip) , but staff did not have any idea how to use. Waited another 10 minutes for another young guy to come and set up for me. After you plug-in and set-up, works great with decent speed for emails, web browsing.||Concierge seem very young and inexperienced. Asked both young men how long they had been working at hotel- less than 6 months. They were helpfull, but did not give good directions how to get to the Mcdonalds or even mention Sanshui Starbucks. In addition, they had no idea about bus schedule, rates or how to get to bus station. I had to come back later to work with senior bellboy- who made the mistake of assuming I was taking bus to Hong Kong, when I clearly called out Shenzhen. Took him 10 minutes to get correct info which I used to catch morning bus back to Shenzhen.||Buffet breakfast was good with weak coffee, standard Chinese breakfast fare like congee, noodles fried veggies. You can order fried eggs, but no omelets. No yogurt. ||Easy check out. I got my 200RMB deposit back. Good value for clean large room, free internet and...
Read moreWhen you fist arrive to the hotel it looks amazing from the outside, even the lobby is well done. Some of the staff at the front desk can speak a little English, enough to get you checked in. I arrived late on a Friday night and after travelling for 30 hours I was ready for bed. When I got into the room my bed was just a box spring without a mattress. The air conditioning is not running unless you have your key inserted in the switch by the door, so it was hot in the room when I got in. Tried to set my air conditioning but they must have it set to a low limit because it ran all night and the room never got cooler than 25. ||||Next morning tried to explain to the front desk that I needed a softer bed, one with a mattress would be nice. They couldn’t understand what I was asking for. Fortunately I have a college here from China so he was able to translate for me. Was told they didn’t have anything like that, yet his room had a mattress on his bed. After an hour and half they finally got me another room with a mattress. Still working on getting the air conditioner worked out.||||The breakfast buffet in the morning is OK. You are able to get your eggs to order and there is a toaster to make toast. The coffee has been hit and miss the last few mornings. Some days it’s hot and other days it’s not. The rest of the buffet is a lot of Chinese food which some of it is good. My Chinese college enjoys it every day so for Chinese standards it’s good.||||The area the hotel is in is good as well, there are restaurants within walking distance and you can find anything from Italian, Western Food and even Chinese food. There is also a shopping plaza within walking distance where you can get groceries. ||||So like I said in my title it’s not the worst place I’ve stayed at but it also not the best. If they can get my air conditioner to work over the next 2 weeks may it...
Read moreI needed to stay a couple of nights here for a project that we are doing on the ourskirts of town. Our Chinese joint venture partner booked the room and after reading some of the other comments I was a bit aprehensive and almost asked them to change, but though I would give it a go. It was your typical Chinese five star hotel, the lobby was impressive, check in was fine with some staff that spoke enough English to get by. The room was a little dark and depressing, but functional and reasonably clean, though there did seem to be a family of reasonably small cockroaches living under the mini-bar fridge. After I killed a few they left me alone. Quite a few small things wrong with the room, shower door didn't close properly and leaked water everywhere, no batteries in the room safe etc etc, nothing to get too concerned about. No wireless internet, though I was able to borrow a wi-fi router that worked well. The hotel buffet breakfast was mostly chinese food, but very tasty, I didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel. Overall it was ok, but no-where near the standard of the major...
