We opted to stay here because of our familiarity with the Hoilday Inn Express chain. It was a good choice. There was 24 hours free airport shuttle. For us who don't speak the language and first time to be in Guangzhou, this is a welcome relief. But the problem is we cannot find the pick up area in the airport, and the airport information counter did not know about it either. There was no mention at any point when we booked our room that this will not be in the arrival area, but in the departure area. Anyhow, we got to the hotel before 8am, and we were delighted that we were allowed to check in! No extra charges. And we were allowed to take breakfast for free, eventhough technically our complimentary breakfast starts the next morning still. Front desk did not make a fuss on these accommodations. ||||There was free wi-fi in the hotel, but no access to social media sites and google search. The hotel's only restaurant is closed for dinner. But there are lots of Chinese restaurants near the hotel, though we were too intimidated to try any of these. Breakfast spread needs variety and improvement. Hotel staff are courteous and most understand English. The hotel is around 15 minutes of slow walk to the Metro station (Renhe). There are buses (707 and 715) near the hotel that can bring you to the Metro; 3 CNY. ||||I would stay here again, and would...
Read moreWe had a 14 hours layover going to Manila and we picked this hotel since we're familiar with holiday inn. I would say it is a pretty decent hotel room with a nice comfortable bed, nice hot shower and you have coffee pot but that's about it. We arrived at the hotel pretty late and hungry. We don't want to miss the shuttle so we waited and decided to just buy food in the hotel or nearby the hotel. Unfortunately, we don't have a cash with and most restaurants only accepts cash, no restaurant or a cafe inside the hotel either because the place that serves guests breakfast is closed. The vending machine only takes cash which I understand. The lobby has a funny smell. Floors aren't swept, front desks were not very happy to see us, no greetings nothing. So we slept hungry but we were exhausted too so we decided to just eat at the airport. So never will I stay in this hotel again nor will I recommend this hotel. It needs a little improvement. They need to make this hotel a more "traveler friendly" hotel. Oh... and their wifi is not really "high...
