I book the deluxe dorm and it was at opposite building, a modern one.||I have access the old building where the reception counter is, the toilet floor flooded, toilet is dirty, quite scary...||||I have second thoughts on the private ensuite initially, but happy to see they have configured the layout very well.||The access to main restroom cannot be locked, 2 basin shared, another internal door to bathroom, and another internal door to toilet. This will totally work! I have encounter twice my roommate hold up and locked herself in the bathroom for 1.5-2hrs before. There is another common toilet just outside the female dorm.||||This is located in the old street, eateries everywhere. But is far from anything else.||||One of the staff is not helpful. I wanted to check out Alibaba HQ and she tell me takes 3-4hrs to reach when I checked baidu map only less than 1hr. When i asked how to go to westlake, she say will need at least 1.5hrs walk (but it fact only 20mins walk), she say I am staying in old street, I can only explore old street and nothing else. When i ask her about malls in Hangzhou, she told me there is no shopping malls in Hangzhou. I speak Mandarin, and is my mother language. I wonder is she purposely or she do not know hangzhou at all? ||||This is probably the worst person in hospitality I had met...
Read moreWe had an ok stay here and think we would have enjoyed it more in the summertime. It is quite chilly in December and it took our room a very long time to warm up. We stayed in a king sized bedroom and it is just a place to sleep. The bed was comfy but the comforter was quite thin. There were only two working electrical outlets in our room and the power went out while we were out and about before our third night stay! Luckily they were able to arrange a stay at a nearby hostel.||The hostel has a great location in the Hefang Street area and the lobby is quite cozy. There is a good coffee place right accross the alley and many restaurants within walking distance. We also walked to the West Lake area from this hostel.||For Didi enter in Hefangtou Zhuomo. The cars can't drive right up but will get you within walking distance. The closest metro station is Ding'An and is about a 10...
Read moreThe address in Amap was completely wrong, so I struggled finding the hostel. I had booked it because of the metro being nearby, which was not the case in the end. BUT, this made me a new local friend who showed me the way, so it turned out well. It is situated in the main area, so to get anywhere, you'll walk through the hustle & bustle, but it's in a calm street, so you don't have any noise inside. Some of the staff spoke English or used translation tools, but not all of them. But they were very kind. Also, it was cheaper to extend directly with the hostel and pay them instead of rebooking online.I met some really amazing people in my dorm, which also added to my Hangzhou experience. The WiFi sometimes didn't work so well, but that's just very usual in China I find. They have free (mostly hot) water, and you can also buy water...
