We just had a weekend camping trip and stayed in the Mongolian Ger. While everything’s still fresh on my mind I’d love to share our experience so you know what to expect.
Pros: The campground has a very idyllic and relaxing vibe, with birds chirping, goats grazing, beautiful trees and red cotton silk flowers;
The kids activities are fun - our kids loved driving the little toy Jeeps, the swings, monkey tree climbing and feeding the goats;
Location is nice - we spent a couple of hours in the morning hiking and going to the famous Cheung Po Tsai cave, which was really fun.
Cons: It’s extremely overpriced for the service and facilities we received;
The beds were horrendous - hard and bumpy;
The individual bathroom was not cleaned well and Saiyuen doesn’t provide hand soap (!!) so we had to use shower gel as soap;
The shower curtain was covered with mold so we couldn’t use the shower at all;
The tents were so close together that there was little privacy - we could hear snoring from the tent next to us;
Some of the front desk receptionists were quite rude and unprofessional.
Overall Saiyuen seems to have good concepts but lacks good management. They’re trying to maximize profit rather than prioritizing customers’ experience.
We may still come back to Saiyuen in the future (after our bodies recover from the horrible night of sleep), but we’ll bring our own tent to avoid all the unpleasantness of our tent/bathroom, and the...
Read moreThis is the 4th year our family of 4 has gone to this establishment to celebrate. This time, we went during the Christmas period (24~26/12). ||Accommodation:|The African Safari Tent (L) was a bare room of just beds, with an air conditioner/heater and 4 USB ports. The Mozzi guarded doors didn't come with their own string to tie up, so we used our own spare shoelaces to tie the doors up. Overall an average camping accommodation, which is easy enough to achieve, as a camping experience should have the bare minimum.||Service:|The way the staff treated us was terrible. ||We always booked a tent with a barbecue pit so it was on us for not realizing this specific package didn't come with one, and we already brought all our own raw food. Yet surprisingly when we asked about where to get some extra items, they simply responded with "You should have gotten your own", and when pressed on, they started arguing with us, which was extremely unprofessional. ||Furthermore, We kept all our areas tidy and clean and even cleaned after we finished using the services we paid for. Despite this, the last thing they said when we left was to other staff, telling them to check whether we scratched any tables as we were "the family". ||The way we were treated is not something you want your family to experience during Christmas, and they've just lost a...
Read moreIt really is a good scenic site for campers! Grasses and trees and pools and goats everywhere, giving you a taste of nature, while you can be benefited from the convenience of main streets. I booked a build-own-tent area with a sea view. Unfortunately it is quite far away from seashore, so the view may not be as picture-perfect as one may expect. But it is clear to see the sunset, which is great enough!
I really appreciate how they manage the site well. They have enough toilets at every camping location so you don’t have to walk a long way or wait a long queue for one. Somehow some toilets clogged, and they repaired them very quickly. Toilets are very clean too, so never compare them to those public toilets! Also they provide potable water, as long as you have bottles or containers you can pour there and don’t have to bring some liters on your own.
It’s a relaxing place for vacation. I will definitely come here again if I’m going...
