Very often people are afraid of the high altitude that may cause severe headache, nausea, short breathing, and weak spirit. However, there are some secrets that may help to avoid all these symptoms: when arrive keep quiet and talk as less as possible, walk slowly, drink a lot of water, don’t take part of any activity during first day, full rest will help to adjust the altitudes problems. If you are free (and not freezing to death), the rooftop is a great place to chill and just sip a cold beer while looking at a most awesome view of the Potala Palace.||||Downside is mentioned in the other posts. The hostel is a bit worse for wear and some of the rooms have a pretty funky smell. Just ask the staff for a change if it is really unbearable. All rooms face the corridor as well, so things can get a bit loud if there are fellow customers returning from a late night out.
