A well-located hotel in the heart of Lhasa, just down the street from where the central action is. Lots of bazaar stuff, many eating places, some modern, some traditional.||Problem is that no one speaks English and one had to use a translation app all the time. Asked for wake-up call during my first 4-day stay (arranged by a Tibet Tour Agency) and only twice did they call the room on time.||Breakfast provided was bountiful, but mostly Asian food, so I didn't have much of an appetite for it after eating such food for over a week. Most hotels serve egg dishes, cereal and stuff and a later hotel in Tibet served such stuff, but not this one.||The room was good-sized but the TV didn't even have the CGTN China English News Channel (which is surprisingly good).||The large lobby had uncomfortable bench-like chairs to sit on.||The price seemed high ($150 or more for a single), but my room was included in the tour price, so I was not affected.||So, for the location very good, but be prepared to save your appetite for lunch outside and for some frustrating interactions with the staff. I don't understand why so many Asian hotels don't have English speaking staff, as it is the international travel language used by Europeans, other Asians, South...
Read moreWe were informed at the time going to Lhasa that our hotel has been changed to thangka hotel. At first I was worried, but when we arrived there , it all good. Staffs in the hotel are very friendly, quick check in. Room with ac, heating up and oxygen access in the room if needed, everything is very clean. Breakfast has Chinese food, Tibetan food, not much of western style, but I guess when you go travel, you would want to taste the local food. The hotel is a Tibetan style hotel. ||Location is great, located at traditional Tibetan ppl living area. next to the 2nd largest temple in Lhasa , and backside of the hotel is the famous bakhor street, and there is a Burger King next to the hotel :), 5mins drive to the palace. 2mins walking you will be on the street filled up with Tibetan shops . Big supermarket and pharmacy are all about 5-10 mins walk. ||Rooftop restaurant is nice , can enjoy an afternoon tea while over looking the temple and palace ...||There is a Tibetan restaurant, food is nice if you like Chinese food. It is more like Sichuan style.|| I would recommend...
Read moreThis hotel is located right next to the entrance of Barkhor Street and Jokhang Temple, close to shopping and transportation to other places in Lhasa, so the location is perfect. The service is the most impressive, my hotel room was facing the street and there was a loud speaker shouting all day and all night, I had to complaint to the hotel staff even though the speaker was not part of the hotel. They immediately negotiated with the the relevant people, and offered to switch my room to face away from the street. Also the hotel staff helped me to reserve the critical sites and train. I cannnot be more thankful for their help. The room was big and they cleaned every day, they did a good job cleaning the room. The onsite laundry facility was helpful too since I cannot affort to pay for laundry service. All in all, I am very happy with the stay, and will return again if I come...
