Lijiang Waika International Hotel — Hotel in Lijiang City

I really wouldn’t recommend this hotel. It is badly in need of refurbishment and fell well below our expectations based on the reviews we read. Breakfast was poor in quality and selection. The mattresses were hard and with creaky metal springs. We asked about laundry and were told that the one and only machine was broken. We asked twice about the fitness room which is listed on Trip and with a picture and were told there isn’t one. On our last morning we asked reception to book us a taxi. They said they would and would call back....

The room was clean and comfortable and our bed was huge. The hotel is also a short walk away from Lijiang old town and the main bus station. The only thing that was a big minus for us - the hot water was very sporadic (and not very hot!) so it was a lottery whether you'd be able to have a warm shower in the mornings or evenings. Luckily the heating worked so we were able to warm up. We were offered free breakfast which was a nice touch, but not eating meat or eggs, there were a very few...

The hotel is quite good. The room is nice and quite spacious. The hotel is very large, has a swimming pool and good service. In the room there were only a few minor problems such as a burned electrical outlet. I had a bit of a problem because there's only one elevator and it's quite small.
