This is the government administration center of the Lijiang in the olden day since Yuan dynasty, continuing to Ching dynasty. The current construct concept and layout is like palace of Forbidden City紫禁城, but much smaller scale. There is a regular guided tour whenever there is sufficient crowd, ~10 pax, but they speak in mandarin. A quick browse and walkthrough could take an hour. If one were to visit the back temple behind the main buildings, it would take at least another 30 mins. At one of the exit, is a small lane that led to a local fresh market where there's a lot of interesting things tobsee like meats, fruits, herbs, vegies, local foods, etc which depict local daily life.

One should visit this place if spending a few days in Lijiang to have a good understanding of Lijiang ancient town and Naxi people. Entrance fee is rmb40 and it includes a small keychain souvenir with your photo taken there. Printed photo costs rmb 20 which we took 1. Avoid taking the photo if you do not intend to buy. There's a guide to walk us through the place with narration in Mandarin. Strongly recommend you climb to the peak of the mansion to have a good view of Lijiang old town. The tour and walk will be about 1.5hour

I'm like standing in one of the Chinese movie's scene when we're here. Traditional Chinese building. Tickets included tour guide. I wander around the buildings while the Tourguide is talking about histories.. it's quite a big compound , saw few different use of buildings. Worth it!

●《木府》全稱《木氏土司府衙署》位於【雲南省麗江市】《麗江古城》大研古城的獅子山腳下，是『元朝』統治【麗江】的「木氏」土司衙門與官邸，建築完美展現當時〝中原〞地區的大器，同時也保留了『唐宋』時期的古樸風味，而坐西朝東、活水長流的布局，則是當地少數民族『納西族』的傳統文化精神，另也融入『白族』的工藝風格，象徵三族人民同心同德，是為《麗江古城》文化的大觀園，『明代』著名旅行家『徐霞客』描述木府「宮室之麗，擬於王者」。 ●「木氏土司」自『元朝』起統治【麗江】地區共470年，『納西族』本來並無漢姓，「木」姓是1831年掌權土司阿甲阿得歸降明軍後，『明太祖』朱元璋所賜與的。《木府》坐落於麗江大研古城的西南方，占地約3萬666平方公尺，左環青龍（玉龍雪山）、右倚白虎（虎山）、背靠玄武（獅子山），東南方有龜山與蛇山，又有玉水流經象徵太極之脈，為一風水寶地；木製牌坊上「天雨流芳」四個大字是指皇恩浩蕩，轉成“納西族語”又有「讀書去吧」的意思。 ●《木府》建築奢華宏偉，門前的石牌坊匾額上刻著由『明神宗』賜與的「忠義」二字，內有過去土司議政的議事廳、集2000餘年文化精粹、書畫詩集的萬卷樓；也有議論家事的護法殿、後花園光碧樓、宴客歌舞用的玉宴樓，及道觀三清殿；爬上獅子山、穿過古老的柏樹林，便可達《萬古樓」此處是眺望整座麗江《大研古城》及《玉龍雪山》的最佳地點，此外也能俯瞰五光十色的麗江新城、樸實的納西村落，一次飽覽麗江的過去與現在。

They are 木府 (Mù fǔ) who were appointed nobles of Lijiang. I walked slowly, imagining an old story from a long time ago. The garden is beautiful.

Great place to visit. It was qing and ming dynasty style. Garden is very unique and beautiful with both han style and local Yunnan style.
