DoubleTree by Hilton Shanghai Jing’an — Hotel in Shanghai

Weird attempt at an American hotel in China.

To start, the location on Google maps is wrong. Make sure you don't use that as a reference and use the actual street name/number.

The hotel itself is odd. The staff barely speak English. This includes front desk, concierge, waiters at breakfast, etc. Not really sure how Hilton allows this.

The lobby is odd. They failed to give me water, the Doubletree cookies and, when I asked for an upgrade as a Diamond member, I was denied. The hotel is maybe at 30-40% capacity so they just chose not to give me one.

The room itself is tiny with barely any space for luggage. The bed occupies 75% of the room. The bathroom, again, is tiny. The door almost hits the toilet and does hit the bathtub. The shower head is only held at the wall at waist height. Not sure how they expect you to shower...sitting down?

Very unimpressed by everything. Used points to stay so at least it isn't costing...

An OK DT - although do becareful that on googlemap, the location is incorrect (no idea why), but it is known as Mingde Grand hotel. I feel that it is not completely up to the standard of Hilton. Rooms are ok - although I feel that a deep cleaning is needed especially for the carpets. From what I observe, the main clientale base at this property is mainly locals. For elite members, don't hope too much for any good upgrades here (and even expect a downgrade). Housekeeping quality needs to improve. There is a lounge here, which has quite OK food selection - lounge staff are the better ones in the hotel. There are some rooms with a good view towards the Bund/Pudong area (which I was at first assigned to, but later downgraded when the assigned room was still not cleaned). Breakfast offerings are ok.
