The only reason I give this hotel 2 stars is because the security guards were very friendly and tried hard to help us and so did the Front Desk staff. Aside from that, the room was dark and smelled like smoke and we were afraid we were going to be eaten by bugs while we slept. I really don't know what to say, I don't like to write bad reviews but this was not up to my expectations. ||||We were stuck in Shanghai which we were excited about (we love China and especially Shanghai) staying here due to a flight delay, but we were expecting something a little more in-line with the business class fare we purchased on China Eastern Airlines.||||We used Google Translate to help us at least try to move to a non-smoking room they apparently do not have non-smoking rooms so we ultimately ended of changing hotels at 2:00am so we could get some sleep. Maybe we're missing something here but China Eastern should seriously consider a different hotel for disrupted passengers. I've stayed in China numerous times and know how wonderful the country is, but people who have never been to China would have a horrible lasting impression staying here in our opinion.||||Again, the security staff was great and the front desk tried to help but there was really nothing...
Read moreI think the name of the hotel is rather misleading. The hotel is really not that close to Pudong Airport. It took me about 20 minute and cny65 of taxi fare to get to the airport. They do have a subway station in the vicinity but this subway line operating hours is quite limited. ||||If you have an early flight like I did or arrive after 5pm in Pudong airport, you will have to take the taxi. In which case, you may be better off staying at other airport budget hotel such as Motel 168, or stay closer to Pudong downtown area such as Century Avenue where the highway will take you to Pudong airport in about 20minutes too.||||Other than the above point, the hotel itself provides value for money. The room is quite well equiped for the budget price it is offering. The room is a bit old but clean, carpet is stained but they provide you with fridge, toiletries, hot water kettle with tea and coffee, and free cable internet.||||I didn't get to get around much but I notice that there is Carrefour within 5 min walk from the hotel. This would usually mean food, groceries and some shopping.||||I have to mention that the staff is very helpful and friendly, but they speak very limited English. One more thing, they do not accept foreign credit card, so be prepared...
Read moreWe'd been staying in hostels and guest houses throughout Asia for 2 months and although we had no great expectations of this hotel based on the reviews we were disappointed that our room wasn't even cleaned properly with a condom in the bin when we arrived. We arrived late and left early for our flights and had no problems with the tube as mentioned before. It's a ten minute walk to the station and 15 mins to the airport after that. It's cheap, there's not much English spoken and they wanted 300yuan for a deposit which for one night, already paid up front and for two people who were leaving the country wasn't viable, they budged after a while, but seeing as most people using this place are going to be headed to the airport, it would seem sensible to ditch the high deposit and get a half decent English speaker there. I wouldn't recommend it, but at the same time, if you just want a place before heading to the airport, its fine. No wifi in the rooms unless like us you are on the second floor...
