The room I stayed in (Crystal Selected King Size) is designed in a very smart way and has these small very well thought out details that really make a difference. Blackout curtains that really shut all the way (electronically with a remote so you can open and close them without having to get up), the possibility to hook up your devices with an HDMI cable to the TV through a socket in the desk so you can watch your shows or movies you have on the laptop on the big screen (a small investment that i really miss in some 5* hotels some time), an ipod docking station and a good music when you enter the room, high quality linens and a very comfortable bed, probably soundproofed walls and windows (it was extremely silent) oh and even the complimentary slippers were a little bit better and more comfortable than those you usually get in a hotel. yes, there is no room service and it is not the kind of hotel you just want to look your self in for 3 days and pamper yourself ordering room service and massages all day, but the minibar is really cheap and the room is great! perfect for business trips and a city holiday. the room was very spacious and had enough space to store all my stuff. the services I needed (ironing board brought to the room, some telephone enquirires that had to be made in chinese) were all executed fast and very well. will definitely return. the concept of this hotel has won me over. what i did miss though was that there was only one option for breakfast (western- sandwich with OJ, egg and coffee, tea), i wish they would also offer another healthyer option such as something like miso soup ,or congee, or fruit salad or muesli. but there are options very close by (bakeries etc). the price of the room was really fair. will...
Read moreThis hotel is a disaster, as far as service is concerned. A genuine disgrace. The decor, location are fine. The headquarters management clearly are striving to build and manage and excellent domestic mid-to-high end chain. ||Yet, all of the investment and vision and strategy is torn to pieces by the low quality and consistently poor service of the staff working here. ||Here's the situation in many of the rooms -- the Air-conditioning system is broken down and doesn't function. The WIFI bandwidth is pathetically inadequate so evenings it's nearly impossible to get online and open any web pages, Chinese or foreign. To go online, you need to go to the lobby, and sit there, where signal is better. But, you won't be able to work in your room. ||All Orange hotels are meant to always have free oranges on the front desk for customers. This one through the course of two days, almost never had and when asked they lie by saying "We don't have them now."||Telling lies, prevaricating are all the main methods of communication for the staff here. Customers were calling down to complain about problems with air conditioning and WIFI and all I heard the staff offering were lies -- "it will get better soon", or the more common one, "we've already told the engineering staff".||It is such a shame that the Orange brand is so badly served by the people working for it, who show zero politeness, zero in terms of professional service, only a kind of dumb and impolite excuse making.||For the steep price, this place is pure robbery. For a hotel at one-third the price, it would still never be worth setting...
Read moreI stayed here for 6 days 5 nights. The hotel’s location is perfect. It is near Tilanqiao 提篮桥 metro station (exit 4) which is less than 5 minutes walk and near the Raffles City shopping mall. You can get delicious food, snacks and daily essentials in the mall. Also, the North Bund riverside walkway is within 10 minutes walk from the hotel to get a good view of the Pearl tower and the city skyline. I like this hotel’s location because it’s less crowded, has a ‘neighbourhood vibe’ and can reach all the tourists spots by metro within few metro stops which is very convenient. The hotel’s breakfast buffet is nice and worth the price! We get to sample local breakfast cuisine. Hotel room is clean and comfortable too! Well done to the housekeeper. The hotel also provides complimentary mandarin oranges. It’s a real treat after a long day of sightseeing. We received two pastries as souvenirs upon check out. It’s a small gesture that truly...
