There are currently three MUJI Hotels in the world namely, Tokyo, Beijing and Shenzhen. This 79-room Shenzhen property opened in 2018, which is the first Muji Hotel in the world.
MUJI Hotel Shenzhen is located in the central downtown area of Futian, Upperhills. Hotel guests will be delighted to enjoy their shopping and dining in Upperhills, a huge shopping mall beside the hotel. The nearest metro station from this hotel is Donggualing Station (Line 10).
The rooms in this property are situated on levels 4, 5 and 6. It offers the following room types:
Type A - 16 rooms - 26 to 28 m² Type B - 26 rooms - 32 to 35 m² Type C - 21 rooms - 38 to 39 m² Type D - 12 rooms - 42 to 46 m² Type E - 4 rooms - 51 to 61 m²
I had booked Type A and was accommodated in Room No. 421 (level 4). The room is spacious and offers a high ceiling. Regardless the type, each room is almost entirely furnished with MUJI products and here’s the best part — you can take most of them home!
There are two USB charging ports and a universal power socket on each side of the bed. In addition, wireless charging is provided for mobile phones. The classic MUJI CD player comes with a CD. When played, it somewhat reminded me of being in a MUJI store. I was able to select a buckwheat pillow and an essential oil for the aroma diffuser to enhance my sleep experience. Upon request, the staff came to my room to prepare the aroma diffuser for me.
Despite my room facing a busy road, the room is quiet. The bed is firm which provided me with a restful sleep. The automated Japanese style WC is separated by a door from the wash basin and shower area. The water pressure is good, and the warm water is consistent.
The hotel offers the following amenities:
MUJI Diner - Level 2 - Open for breakfast till dinner Muji Store - Level 2 & 3 Library - Level 3 - 24 hours Gymnasium - Level 3 - 6 am to 10 pm Meeting Rooms - Level 3
The 24-hour library occupying most of the 3rd floor is the perfect space to laze the day away. It carries many books in English, Chinese, and Japanese, so you are bound to find something interesting to immerse yourself in.
A reservation at the MUJI Hotel Shenzhen comes with a complimentary Western, Chinese, or Japanese breakfast set meal at the MUJI Diner on the second floor. If you require additional breakfast, you can purchase a breakfast voucher from the Front Desk at RMB 60.
The two-storey MUJI store beside the hotel is one of the largest in China. I had great time shopping here, as some of the items, such as mobile phone accessories, are not available in MUJI stores in my country.
With the entire building enveloped in minimalistic charm, MUJI Hotel Shenzhen definitely makes for a...
Read morewe had a stay in this hotel on a weekend and i love it. room: clean and all furnished with muji furniture and settings, this is exactly what we wanted to enjoy. the room was exactly as what we saw on the website. spacious washroom and i really love the amenity bag. 2 wash basins so no waiting in the morning! it's equipped with the muji signature CD player with the muji bgm, made us so relaxed in the room. however there's only chinese TV program available. we hoped there's NHK. the view outside wasn't pleasant. amenities: like i said the toiletries was good, the cleaning wipe was very good and i'd love to buy more at the muji downstairs. however the bottled water was very small, only 400ml per bottle, having 4 bottles wasn't enough for our consumption. there was welcome snacks too on the desk. the slippers were comfy. facilities: no swimming pool. there's a reading lounge at the 3/f they called it a library. however people sat there and talked loudly then made the place not suitable to read. the resting area at lift lobby of each floor is spacious too. dinning: i usually split my review on hotel and enclosed restaurant but Googles doesn't have it. the breakfast was so-so. it didnt provide muji tea and the food was very local chinese. the chicken nuggets was terrible - hard & dry. the potato salad and oden was good. however the ventilation was really bad. the whole dinning area was stink with frying scent. that's not pleasant. bar lounge: there's hardly anyone there. i wanted to enjoy a bottle but don't think it's a right place nor a right vibe.
overall i still love the room and infrastructure of the hotel itself, but would recommend muji to improve the "muji diner" part. it costs slightly higher then the other shenzhen hotel but i think to visit it occasionally would give a real vacation mood.

Read moreVisited this mall by end of Jan 2018, only around 20-30 shops open out of 200+. I didn't stay overnight at that trip, so I can only access the Lobby, which is simple and very MUJI style. A large MUJI store and cafe is right next door. Join their membership programme, sometimes you can get cash coupon for your instant purchase. Same item, you may get a cheap price there even when the currency exchange at that time was HKD128 vs. RMB100. I think now will be cheaper coz the exchange rate is around HKD118 vs. RMB100.
You can find stores selling drinks including again. Yes, my friends and i am big fans of HeyTea, so you will find this brand name popping up in my posts frequently... haha... I specially like their grapefruit juice coz it serves with certain pieces of fresh grapefruit inside. You can taste the grapefruit pulp by almost every single zip. WIll be a good pick after you full meal. But indeed they are famous for their tea with cheese foam on top.
We had lunch at . Best Chinese Restaurant I had so far and I DO MISS every single dish we ordered, except...
