We visited in July, not the best month given the temperatures around 37C. The hotel is an Old charm hotel, with big spacious carpeted rooms that are clean. The location in the park and by the like is nice and the park is worth a stroll, but you need taxi or bus to some of the major sights in Xiamen. Service is excellent and the staff is really helpful in providing information, getting taxis and so on. Breakfast is good, with a wide variety of freshly prepared Chinese and European dishes. The room comes with 2 bottles of water each day and free coffee and tea, and wifi.||We encountered two issues with the hotel. First if you book a tour, the hotel doesn't offer you a choice of different companies. There are different tours all offered by the same company. We went to the Hakka villages (note that this is about a 4 hour drive so a full day trip). The bus was old and not clean, the airco didn't work well, and the information (catered to Chinese) was limited. The tour inside the village was a hard sell of tea, while it skips for example the viewing deck from which you have a magnificent view of the village. ||The second issue that we encountered was more serious. For two days in a row my wife woke up with extremely itching welts on her arms and legs. First we thought it was a rash from the heat but the last night we begun to suspect bed bugs. I looked but could not find them. Although we suspect bed bugs (several guests on Ctrip, the Chinese counterpart of trip advisor complained of mosquito bites) we can't be 100...
Read moreThe hotel has an old world charm about it. The rooms are big and spacious. What I found really convenient was that the accessories in the bathroom like toothbrush and shaving razor were of an extremely good quality. I have stayed in many hotels in China but the quality of toilet accessories has never been this good.||||The buffet breakfast had a good variety and even a vegetarian like me had no problems in having a sumptous breakfast.||||The hotel is located in a park which makes it convenient to take a walk in the evenings, but it is also not too far from the city centre. Getting transportation is a bit difficult if you try on your own, but the hotel staff can manage to help you out with that.||||I will recommend this hotel to anyone planning to...
Read moreThis hotel is easy to find and has a great location right on the water. There are lots of nice restaurants within walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful (spoke English). There are no English tv channels, however their WiFi is fast and reliable. The breakfast buffet had different western and Chinese options. The gym is decent, however the pool had no area to sun bathe. Nice place to...
