Dacheng Shanshui International Hotel — Hotel in Zhangjiajie

This hotel was an absolute disaster. The first look deceives not only in the lobby but also the room. It starts with no air conditioner being turned on during summer in the lobby. The air was warm and very humid so having to wait in such a lobby was horrendous. There was a blackout while checking in so waiting took quite some time.

The rooms were very much below five star standards with the ceilings falling off, dirty chairs etc. The slippers were not one time use ones and were dirty. Lights in the room have wrong descriptions and it takes a while After you pressed a button for lights to turn on. It’s pretty annoying. Also no Hand Soap in the bathrooms. Calling front desk and sending someone over took half an hour!! The air conditioner in one room was not working and calling housekeeping is only an option if one speaks Chinese. The isolation in the shower was broken and the bathroom therefore got flooded in seconds. Both sprinklers were broken, one barely acceptable while the second being impossible. It was badly installed on the ceiling and when turned on sprinkled the water on the ceiling and through a gap onto the floor. You can hear the traffic loud and clearly even on the 18th floor, making sleeping difficult.

The breakfast next morning was disastrous as well. They provide a variety of warm food, none had any flavor. The food looked like it was from the day before, there was only one fruit, the food very oily, no black coffee, only available already mixed with milk, the butter in a big bowl with who knows how many forks in it. We left the dining room with half filled stomachs and unsatisfied.

I booked this hotel as I was coming off a late flight (around midnight) and it was close to the airport and TianMenShan cableway. I paid 20元 to catch a taxi here from the airport (even though it's only a 6 minute ride... but given it was so late and taxi was the only option it was better than the 40元 most drivers wanted). ||Check in was fine. There was a 300元 cash deposit that needed to be paid upfront. If you don't speak any Chinese, just hand your passport over and your booking number if you have one. I found some of the receptionists spoke some English. ||I stayed in tower 8. The room was fine. A little bit worn but overall was spacious and clean. The air conditioning was fine and I couldn't hear any road noise. ||Breakfast was served on level 1 and was crazy busy. People everywhere (and this was 7am???) I grabbed some fruit and sticky rice but saw there was bread as well as other Chinese breakfast options. ||It was around a kilometre from the hotel to the cable car to TianMenShan which I comfortably walked. Just head out the hotel doors and walk left. Cross the river and keep going. All flat. ||The website said check out was midday but they were kind enough to call me around 1130am and tell me 1pm was check out. ||All in all, this hotel was fine and clean. A good option for people like me who just arrived, slept and went out and then checked out. It's definitely not five stars (which you can't really expect for $50 per night) but comfortable...

Dacheng Shanshui International Hotel is a hotel located in the centre of the busy city of Zhangjiajie. The hotel is close to the train station and bus station. You can reach this hotel by taxi from the two stations above only cost 6.5 Yuan or the equivalent of USD 0.94. Sometimes taxi drivers ask to be rounded up to 10 yuan. This hotel also close to the lower station of Tianmen Mountain Cableway (Tianmenshan Suodao) is in walking distance from the hotel. So simple to find anything nearby, just go down to the lobby and out to find a supermarket, traditional restaurant, and fast food. Easy to find this hotel and most of the taxi drivers know this hotel or you may want to try a ride on a motor rickshaw or motorbike taxi.

The room is nice and clean, the access is so easy. Most of the crew don't speak English only the staff and receptionist but they are so friendly and helpful.
