Folks...please heed this advice. If you find yourself at the base of the tramway and see fog in the sky, do not pay the $50 to go up the mountain. It’s not even worth going up there by bus or any other means. If you can see fog from the ZJJ village, I assure you that it’ll be so dense at higher elevations that you will have zero visibility. Imagine riding in a cable car high in the air where you are supposed to see beautiful sights for miles around, but instead the windows were covered with opaque privacy film. We could feel that we were moving but literally couldn’t see 3-meters past the windows (due to the fog). This is not an exaggeration.

The frustration continued after arrival to the mountain top. There are many winding paths affixed to the side of sheer rock walls. One should be able to go near the railing and look down for 100m. Due to the fog, there was nothing....no view of anything but white nothingness...couldn’t see up, down, or out.

The entire experience was beyond disappointing. We traveled so far to get here and it was a complete waste of time. We’ll make plans to return at some point in the future but will have to try to plan around the weather. :(

If the park administration had some morals, they would provide an indication of visibility. I guess that action would result in lost revenue so not...

So they only sold me a Line C ticket, because non of those other 4 lines, were not available at this point. Did not matter at all, what actually does matter is, that there was no English sign on the entrance for the queue and I was legit waiting about approximately 100min until it was my turn. Turns out I was standing in queue for Line A. Would be a lot more helpful if there was a sign which says it’s for line A. Anyway after being pissed, I went down for the bus and the bus drove me to another cableway spot. Yes, the big flat sign says express cableway, as a foreigner how should I know that this was the right spot. I gotta mention again, this was the only cableway you could see around there, but the sign clearly doesn’t say to go by bus FIRST. Finally I arrived at the other cableway station, turns out again it was already closed. Thank you for nothing. It‘s crazy that this is one of the top 100 tourist places on trip.com but no one can...

Blessed to have this opportunity to travel to the beautiful ZhangJiaJie 张家界 ☁️🇨🇳 Itinerary 🗺️ Day 1 - ZhangJiaJie National Park (Avatar mountains) > 魅力湘西演出 Day 2 - Grand Canyon (visit the Grand Canyon lake, longest glass bridge) > Baofeng Lake > ZhangJiaJie City (can visit some cafes around the city!) Day 3 - Tian Men cable car (world’s longest cable car) > Tian Men mountain Transport 🚗 We booked a private car charter cum tour guide for the entire journey for easier travel. Our guide was very helpful & we feel very well taken care of during the trip! If you’re interested, dm me to get her contact number. Expenses ✈️ Flight: Direct flight from KL > ZhangJiaJie via Batik Air (fare prices vary by season) 🚗 Private car + tour guide + entrance tickets: About 2.2k rmb/pax 🏨 Accomodation (we stayed at 2 diff hotels in ZhangJiaJie: 2 nights in Neodalle by Hyatt & 2 nights in Hampton by Hilton): About 1.9k rmb/pax Tips - Wear comfortable shoes as you’ll be walking A LOT! - Bring a light jacket as it’ll get chiller in the mountains - Wear sunscreen!! - Bring tissue paper as all the public toilets do not provide #zhangjiajie #avatarmountains
