We had 4 perfect days in Zhangjiajie thanks to Rocky and his wife who both own this hotel. It is located just 5km from Hehua airport and only within walking distance to the Central Bus Station. When checking in, we were immediately impressed by Rocky's fluency in English. He gave us a map showing overall Zhangjiajie's tourist destinations, bus stops and detailed routes within the National Park. He also helped us book tickets to the Glass Bridge & Grand Canyon at standard price (normally foreigners can't book it online and may need to buy from black market at 2-3 times the normal price). Everyday he would ask where we wanted to go and then clearly guided us how to travel to those scenic spots, how to navigate around, tips on which places to visit first, etc. He took time answering all our questions in English and always drove us to the bus station or airport. His wife, though couldn't speak much English, was also very helpful.||||The hotel room was clean and comfortable. They don't provide toiletries and don't change your towels but would empty the trash bin everyday. That's reasonable given the super low rate they charge. Hot water was plenty and the air-con worked well. There are a number of local restaurants around so foods were not an issue. If you don't have google translate app, you can find a restaurant with English menu by walking from the hotel to the main road then turn right (it's next to the pharmacy if I remember correctly). Otherwise, you can just eat at Rocky's restaurant which is opposite the hotel.||||No lift/ elevator but Rocky and his wife would help you carry your luggage. There might be noises from airplane taking off/ landing (once every 1-2 hours) as the hotel is near the airport so if you have trouble sleeping, make sure to bring something to cover your ears.||||Long post but just really wanted to recommend Yijiaqin hotel. Also love the fact that Rocky has been learning English only through internet and speaking...

Read moreWe stayed here for one night and that was one night too many. It smelled of raw sewage in the bathroom (probably from diaper to cover HUGE hole in wall), noisy of construction in nearby area (6 am - 8 pm per hotel owner), airplane noise nearby airport, thin window panes, barebone amenities such as shower and toilet combo, no towel, no toilet paper. Nothing works right like outlets, lights. I wouldn't wear the used slippers provided. My husband refused to shower and his not a sissy. ||||The owner tried to rip us off with ride to airport (citing RMB$40). We got a cab for $20. We didn't even bother asking about breakfast nor seeing Tianmen Mountain nearby. Not sure what those positive Tripadvisor reviews are about?! And to be honored with Traveler's Choice?! I wouldn't give this motel 1/2 a star. Only booked it because we needed one night to crash for an early morning flight. LOTS of B&B's nearby, almost all nicer than Zhangjiajie Yijiaqin Hotel. Apparently, that whole area caters to tourists so folks convert their 5-7 story homes into family-run inns. Look around. Plenty to choose from, or go straight for the traditional hotels. |||| I usually trust TripAdvisor's reviews, but this one really made me...
