Just stayed the night at Hostel El Hangar and loved it. A great value for the money. It's super close to the airport. It took me longer to walk there than it did some other reviewers. They said 5 minutes. It took me 15. But I'm middle-aged with short legs and not exactly athletic ;) Plus, I didn't take the most direct route. I chose to stay off the grass and follow the sidewalks, which curve around and don't give you a 'straight shot' to the terminal. Still, it's very close by any standard. You can see it from the hostel. The staff were very friendly and the shuttle was free and super efficient. It is on-demand and available 24 hours per day. The room was very clean. Unlike some reviewers, I had plenty of hot water. And I like scalding hot 3rd degree burn kind of showers. The water was plenty hot for me. You just have to let it run for a bit til it gets hot. I will agree that the wifi was hit or miss. It would come and go. I walked to the airport and used their free WiFi. (I didn't walk there solely for that, but it is an option if you want a better signal.) I will also agree that I could hear noise outside. But I stayed in three different places in Medellin (including one very expensive apartment 13 floors up) and outside noise was prevalent in all of these. So, if you're a light sleeper, maybe bring some ear plugs. One more plus, the resident dog was very cute as well. And very well-behaved. He would stroll around and visit the guests briefly, only to return to his cute little home in the courtyard. The hostel had everything I needed at a great price and a super convenient location. I would definitely stay there again! :) I've included some pics, in...
Read morethe hotel has 22 rooms, most of the rooms are pretty small and no windows or windows are set high near the ceiling.. the keepers sprayed very strong product in my room , not the bathroom.. i had an allergy to it.. i complained earlier in the evening.. they gave me another room facing the parking lot.. cars coming and leaving all the time.. shuttle leaving his engine on...so the fume infiltrated in my room.. i had air outlet into the room with 2 inches wide so needless to say,, .. i made sure that the management would take care of the problem.. the hotel is really targeting a local or colombian business,, outside the hotel there is a gas station also.. very noisy place,, the good thing.. they pay for the airport ride,, this hotel is very good if you only want one night between flights....also one can hear everything next room if you have one that is giving inside...
Read moreHostal El Hangar is a great place if you need to stay near an airport for a day. The hostel has an all day restaurant next to it and a huge parking area behind it, if you need to leave your car there. The service was great, all the staff were friendly with great attitude, they were quick to show us our room. The room we stayed at was simple yet comfortable. The internet was a little slow but the TV worked. The bathroom was clean, the sink and toilet were also clean. The shower is also clean and if you want to have a hot shower you are going to have to wait a bit for the water heater to run. It’s also a little noisy because of the airplanes, but overall it’s a great place to stay if you need to be close the an airport, also make sure to say hi to the cat that always wanders...
